So why doesn't the US have the M240G?

I'm sure it has been brought up as a suggestion many times by now, so I'm wonder what the reason is that the US Army/ USMC factions (and maybe others) don't have access to the M240G as a secondary support weapon, similar to how the Militia faction has the M-60 secondary option. Doing it like the militia have would of course eliminate the iron sights option, but would it be impossible to add another kit selection, similar to how we have 2 rifleman choices?

[R-DEV]DMC is working on it.
It's been in the works for quite some time now, but never got finalized.

its simply a matter of actually making the weapon, the weapons don't self make themselves when we decide we want it ingame
remember, the work put in to the mod is free, which means there is a certain bias towards work that modders themselves are interested in, much like a mapper who likes desert map is probably going to make more desert maps
so the relevant team members with the required skills will get around to it when they get around to it

It would be possible and might happen in the future, but at the moment, there simply is no handheld M240 model.
Edit: Oh come on. Ninja'd by two Devs at once.

As stated, the reason why they (nor the British or other factions) don't have it is because we at the moment do not have an M240 model ingame (other than that really crappy M240 on the Landrover which was made before BF2 came out) and we are working on a new M240/GPMG model as we speak.
Locked.
