I saw awhile ago, a video of people "fastroping" out of a MH53......Now I have DL'd the mod and found the map to be Al Basrah, but the MH53 is not there anymore...where did it go? That Heli is awesome lolz, its huge and looks sweet.

1. There is no, and never will be fastropes.

2. There is no MH-53 in PR, you were looking at the British Merlin helicopter.

3. They were throwing grapple hooks out the end.

Fast ropes is ALT+F4, Dtacs know your stuff.

The Pavelow is no longer in service, the only variants in service are:

CH-53 Sea Stallion

CH-53E Super Stallion

MH-53E Sea Dragon (Only used by the Navy, the biggest meanest chopper in service hooyah)

and so it never ends..

An MH-53E is the the same thing as a CH-53E. The only differences are cosmetic, such at the MH-53E has larger sponson fuel tanks, where as the CH-53E has smaller one's and utilizes auxilary drop tanks. They have the same frame, same engines, same gearboxes, same hydraulic systems.

The CH-53D is to be replaced by the MV-22B Osprey in the near future after most of the CH-46Es have been retired.

The CH-53E is to be replaced by the CH-53K sometime in the late 20teens, around 2018 I believe.

I know what your sayin, but we like to think our Dragon is a tad bigger cause of the sponsons, I know you know your shit too Corporal. My rating is the equivalent to the Corps MOS 2631, so I'm all intel, I just like learning vehicles and what not on the side, you see a lot on the amphibs, Marine equipment anyway. I got a question about the V22 though, is it as unreliable and disastrous as people say? We dont have any on ours ATM, I know you could give me a legit answer.

Its still in the mod, but its god an odd "lag bug" for some players which makes it unflyable and also a few other issues, we are hoping its going to make a return in the future

So the Merlin is only in the Deployment version of Al Basrah? It certainly isnt in Coop

No, it isn't on any map in PR currently afaik (although maybe on Qinling, not sure).

Al Basrah hasn't had any helis since 0.85 when it had a Lynx but the map has too small a view distance to make helis viable assets.

You can also find some videos of the Osprey in PR... along with the harrier... neither are actually in the game for one reason or another.

It's on Qinling, at least on the command and control mode version of the map. It's also on one of the three Christmas map-pack maps; not sure which one.

I've been sort of dubious about the role of "heavy" helicopters like the oft-suggested Mi-26, Chinook, and CH-53 as the 8-players-to-a-vehicle rule makes them sort of excessive.

No it doesn't, because they give the option of heavy logistics with the two crates.

Its currently only on Qinling CNC 64, Operation Snow Storm AAS 64 and Barentz Invasion AAS 64 and INS 64.

anyway, you probably saw either the Merlin or the Osprey. Merlin is all but gone because of the horrible lag, i believe the Osprey is "in storage" because its not in wide enough use to be realistic.

MI-26 is capable of lifting 20 tonnes, 44000 lbs so I doubt it's been photoshopped. I've worked on several of them in Afghanistan and they truly are a monster machine.

I believe it's in storage cause it doesn't look like the variants that deploy. I've seen the video and pictures and they have a MV-22A Osprey, which is the earlier model which is primarily used by VMMT-204, the MV-22 Osprey training squadron and is utilized in small numbers by VMX-22, the MV-22 experimental squadron. I've offered my advice to see the aircraft designed to a MV-22B and haven't heard anything from any of the Devs about helping out.

And it is in very wide use. There are currently 9 deployable MV-22 squadrons, 1 training and 1 experimental. The Osprey has served in Iraq and is currently being used on MEUs and in Afghanistan. Let's just say, it's more realistic than the AH-1Z which JUST COMPLETED OPEVAL (Operational Evaluation) and is now cleared for FRP (Full Rate Production). The USMC is expecting to use them on WESTPACs (Pacific MEUs) soon and Afghanistan later on next to it's sister, the UH-1Y.
