I recently made some new textures for the spetznaz (special forces) team that looked like the urban design from MW2 and even though they arent perfect, I would like to see them in game before I continued working on them, sadly, whenever I tried to load the game I got an error: It said something about an unknown file type, I saved them as DDS files already, so why am I getting this error and what can I do to fix it? (i use paint.net, havent been able to find PS cs4-) BTW these are just for the heavy soldier
these are the textures (in png format)

There are many sub formats of DDS and obviously either paint.net can't save in the correct format or you didn't pick the correct format to save it in.
Normally player textures are saved in DDS DXT1 with all mipmaps, although 1st person textures should be saved with no mips to save space as mipmaps are unnecessary for 1st person textures.
NVIDIA Texture Tools 2: Open Source GPU-Accelerated Compressor
That tool above is by far the best tool to save DDS images with but its also by far the most complicated and isn't that flexible either.
The simplest and second best tool that I know of is the Photoshop DDS plugins but they are not as good quality wise as the above tools.
You can also find out what format of DDS to save textures in using the WTV tool here by opening up the current textures with it, and it will tell you all the information about the texture, from what DDS format its saved in, to how many mipmaps it has and the filesize of each mip etc.
Windows Texture Viewer
Hope that helps.

Ive made other working textures for the MEC team and the EU thwat worked great, ill try it out, could it also have anything to do with the fact that I have so many textures with different suffixes?
EDIT: Now Im getting an error when it is verifying client data: it says "failed to create dx texture. invalid call

no that shouldn't have anything to do wit hit. Check what DDS format your textures are with WTV.

If you don't have PhotoShop, you can also use GIMP. It's free and there is a DDS plugin available too.
Anyroad you should save DDS in proper format as Rhino wrote.
