The challenger 2 is a very tough tank. In Iraq one was hit by 60 RPGs, plus a Milan, and still worked!
I think the reason is the damage model. Bf2 doesn't model penetration, therefore if they made it weak enough to be destroyed by one mine, a few MG rounds will also kill it...

Actually, I'm no coder, but from what I've read and stuff, they can limit the damage from a certain weapon (i.e. Mine, .50, Small Arms) so that certain weapons do so much damage to a vehicle; therefore, making a mine do more damage does not make EVERY kind of weapon do more damage. Mine's damage to tanks and APCs were changed last patch to make it so that 1 mine would put a vehicle like Tank into critical status so that the crew could escape or at least have a higher chance of escaping.

Sorry, what I meant was that BF2 doesn't model
Penetration. Yes, different armaments can do different amounts of damage, but, say an explosion, and an anti-tank shell would penetrate the armour the same amount. Therefore you can't make a mine penetrate the armour, otherwise a hand-grenade would also take it out.

So maybe there's something wrong with the Militia mines instead of the tank?

the British Challenger 2 and Canadian Leopard 2A6M CAN are the two toughest tanks around.
like said before there are stories of Challengers just getting hammered with RPG's and explosives just keeping on fighting,
likewise there's a story of when and CF Leopard 2A6M (mine and IED resistant package) CAN drove over and denotated a massive IED that damages one track but the crew was virtually unharmed, other times when and leopard will be hit my multiple IED's and be completely unfazed.
