Change Resolution without starting game?

OS: Win XP Prof. 32 bit

So, normally when I play PR I have a external monitor connected and I use it. However, if I play it with the external screen and leave the resolution up at 2048x1152 it won't start up when I am using the laptop monitor at 1200x800. When I try to start PR without the external monitor it shows the little PR box, and then the screen goes black, then it crashes to desktop.

I am currently 200 miles away from my monitor, so I can't start the game. So, I need to somehow change the resolution without starting the game?

I have tried appending this:
+menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 800

to the target of the desktop shortcut, but nothing changed. Is there something in the registry that I can change or something like that?

Any help is much appreciated.

Solution for anyone else with a similar problem:

Go to My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles

Inside there are multiple profiles. One named "Default" and others named "0001" or "0002" or whatever. Inside each profile there is a file named Video.con which can be opened in a Notepad. In this file is the resolution. It is easy to find. Change it to the resolution you want.

I changed the resolution in all of the profiles and it worked. I don't know if this is necessary or not. Changing only the Default profile may work. Maybe someone else can comment on this.

I haven't been on Windows XP for a long time so I am not positive it has this but I thought it has something of this sort

Steps on Win7
Right click the shortcut, go to compatibility tab, and select "Run in 640 x 480"

Maybe not that exact tab(compatibility) but search around in the shortcut properties.

if that works once in the game set it to whatever resolution you want and restart without the 640 x 480 checked.
