First off I have to say, PR has come A LONG way. I recently fixed my computer and had a 9 month time away from PR, and before then I played it quite rarely (playing Europe in Ruins, TF2, and L4D/2). I have been with PR from the very beginning and even joined the dev team for some time. And man, it's absolutely incredible how immersed you are. It's totally amazing!
While playing Muttrah City (which I have to say has also come a long way, holy freaking cow did this map get HUGE!) and seeing how much detail there is and how it feels like you are walking around a real city, and seeing the streets totally empty all I could think of was one thing. This needs some zombies. Something that I've always wanted was an open city to fight zombies in, I thought L4D was going to do this, but it's a pretty linear path.
I'm curious is there anyone that has come through and tried to do something with PR? If not I'm prepared to write a lengthy statement to see if I could interest people in working on something like that.

my channel is full of them
mostly sponsored by the PRT and community events
got more in my channel. Essentially you start off with a majority of survivors outnumber the zombie team, who only can use knives/bayonets. Survivor team can only use knife/pistol/shotgun until 4 people are left. The objective for the survivors vary, often going to a cp through several checkpoints, or surviving the round for x amount of minutes. With the introduction of mumble, zombie battles have become more epic.

I'd like to see an exclusively-cooperative zombie mode with one map per faction. The MEC could defend a Mosque for example, the Militia some sort of missile silo, the USMC the Essex. It would play exactly like Call Of Duty's mode, except without the weapon-unlock system.
I think it would be a really great addition to PR.

This is what I would propose.
First off it would have to be bots, playing with zombies that are people they instantly become too organized. Zombies are supposed to be mindless, that's the fun in a sense.
Make it so there are maybe 8 survivors, because then you can have over 50 zombies around them at any given time.
Make zombies at different stages of decay, fresher so to speak zombies would be capable of moving faster.
Using the insurgent style of game play, you can have "supplies" spawn in random areas or in certain buildings, the objective would be to search X amount of buildings to find the supplies, then make it to the end of the city.
You could do a VIP style where you have to get a slow moving vehicle from one side of the city to the other, and make it so wreckages spawn randomly cutting off some streets.
Bots I would assume be easy to program since they don't need to shoot or anything, make it so they spawn at least X meters away from players, always know where the players are, and maybe move a bit faster when the players are in sight.
Zombies would be killed by head shots only.
It would be great to have body damage effect the way they move and such, but would be a bit of work.
Would be great to have a weight system like zombie panic, but another thing that would not be needed per se.
Same goes for melee weapons.
But the basic idea of having to go through the city, fight hordes of slow moving zombies, would be amazing.

What, no third person animation, Chuc?
Looks very nice man!
Don't think zombies have to be bots to be honest, makes it all the more exciting when they're humans . But you can have both variants I reckon. Like, have 8 survivors, all other humans are on the zombie-team. If you're on coop, the zombie team exists of both bots and humans (if there are more than 8 humans on the server).
There has to be a "zombie" folder (language) in common_client.zip/sound/, seriously!!
You could make different variants of zombies I guess. Some run normal and have normal strength. Others run fast but have much less strength (so they die quicker). Up to the player to choose what zombie-class you want to play .
As for an objective. Well, survival is the main objective. But if you want it to be more than that, place an entereable helicopter on the map. The survivors need to get to the choppa. Once all (living) survivors are in the chopper, the game ends.
Hmm... we need a gpm_zombie now guys .

Hmm, 16 vs 112?
Sounds epic.
I never got to play this fun mode though...

I would love to see something similiar to CS:S ZombieMod implemented in PR. You could have your normal "whack-a-zombie" until either all zombies or humans are dead. And then you could have the escape game-mode, where humans must reach a certain place on the map (as mentioned before, it could be a helicopter, or maybe a boat or just a safehouse).

We are organizing this as a farewell to PRT C9. It'll be CATA/NATO exclusive though. If it is appreciated we can probably try to get something larger (128 player?) and try that out

willy_ravage and I came up with a small audit for al basrah for a possible zombie night over at TG. Just silly is useless and doesn't seem to pester the admins enough for it to be organised and played
though once he reads this and hears about the zombie language file and stuff i expect i'm going to be trying to rework something again >:[

Yea [R-DEV]Matrox and I had wanted to make "Project Infected" over a year ago. thats when i asked Chuc to make an animation but the gamemode never got made due in part to me leaving for a good few months. even if i had have stayed it may not have gotten done because the hype died down. The idea was simple at first then when i asked around i was told that having a side of zombies and a side of gun fighters wouldnt work due to balance reasons and hitbox problems. which i still contest to this day. pity it wasnt taken seriously. it could have been a great addition to the mod. It would have been similar to left for dead with different kits for zombies to do differnt jobs, but again, nobody wanted to help and said things like "Aww...not another freakin zombie shooter!" and it crushed my willpower to push through it. maybe you can get a better response.

using COOP I imagine this would be pretty easy to set up gameplay wise really, just create kits for the bots that only feature melee weapons for now and you've basically got half the gameplay done right there.
I already love playing 5 vs 40 bots with some mates when theres not a MP server up, its great fun. So maybe some zombie action could be good too.

give them loads of sprint and make their melee attack a three shot burst of 1000< dmg xD
If im not mistaken i think matrox took a taliban skin and saturated it with blood and guts. combine that with chuc's animation and a cool attack and you allready have a zombie.

accidently blocking the spawn with 2 people with PKM until theres not bots left and suddenly BAM?
good times

What would be cool is if the survivors can only use riflemen at the start and then only after reaching the supply zones could they grab some better kits.
Also maybe on the spawns the soldiers would be spread out? so they would have to link up with eachother and coalesce into a larger group. It would make the beginning quite awesome considering you would be walking alone trying to search for other survivors.

Trust me when I say I've pestered the admins enough. It's got the green light, but not until after the Shijia Valley scrim.
And yes, I'm still going to be jumping on your back some more to get things working, but don't worry, I'm trying to get Sniperdog to help you out.
