I have tried to use one, but its impossible for helicopters and I can't seem to get a constant engine throttle on the jets. Just wondering if anybody else uses a gamepad.

Eh, a joystick is better for jets. It's easier for those tricky landings on Quinling :)

Joysticks are good for flying but I can get a tighter turn rate with a mouse.

For armour have you ever tried double tapping W to get the speed to a crawl.

I attempted to use a PS3 controller for just Infrantryanf flying, but I found the keyboard much better. I recommend a joystick, which I got for $20 at Best Buy.

hes not asking for opinions on joystick vs keyboard/mouse. if it turns into a vs thread its going to get locked.

but yes, i use a gamepad and i love it. i dont fly because my connection sucks, but since i started gaming on consoles, the dual analog sticks are second nature to me.

So you actually play as INF with gamepad?

I get a tighter turn rate using keyboard-keyboard :)

Using a console controller for a FPS would be terribly difficult vs mouse opponents surely? Haven't heard of anyone flying with them either.

I use a PS3-lookalike thing for driving, and even then i still hold my right hand on the mouse, and drive with the left analog stick on the controller. It works alright, you just gotta set the buttons up correctly for you. There is a lot more to PR than just "drive". You got all that communications bit and the map bit too.

For driving slowly the analog sticks are great. Otherwise, it's a bit strange. Still, it's an ordeal and adds to my level of immersion and fun.

Yes i have. a logitech one thats designed to replicate PS2/3 but a bit clunky due to having more volume for batteries. Its good for racing games for the PC. but joysticks are better for flight. I tested both for comfort and joystick beats it hands down. but funny enough gamepads can be useful for helicopters in BF2.

using the mouse has its advantages but gamepads are very helpful for steep turns and the analog sticks help when pivoting and diving. but only with helicopters. jets are easier with a joystick.
