Just downloaded PR

Alright so I just downloaded PR and I ordered BF2 over the internet. It should be here later today, so I was wondering if I can just install PR to my computer right now or should I wait until I have BF2 on my computer before installing. Also after I install PR how do I open it? Do I open up BF2 and then go to PR from there or what? Thanks in advance, I'm new to PC gaming and all this modding stuff.

Welcome

I'd wait to get BF2 installed :) just in case, I doubt beta testing took installing PR without BF2 in to account :P

Its pretty simple, though occasionally there are snags due to new operating systems etc; just double click on the desktop shortcut that will be avaliable once PR is installed :) If you're on Vista it can get a bit more complicated.

You'll also notice that PR offers to install a second program called mumble when part 3/3 is installed, this is a prefered voice application that we use in PR :)

Well, first of all, welcome to PR.

First install BF2, update it to 1.5 and then install PR (all 3 parts). PR is a different .exe, it runs on its own. Just accept the shortcut on desktop and run it as admin (right click on that shortcut > properties > run as administrator) to avoid any potential issues.

If you get kicked by Punkbuster, then manually update it. You can find it in BF2:Support forum in this same website, it's a very easy process.

Read the whole manual. It is crucial that you learn the basics before proceeding. When joining a public server let the Squad Leader know that you're new. Never grab anything else other than the normal rifleman kit until you grasp the in-game mechanics (and to avoid pissing people off, you'll know why in time).

Download Mumble, it's an optional feature in the installation process. It's a VOIP program that runs aside of the in-game one. It allows audio positioning, meaning if you talk to me to my right side, I will hear you respectively, distance the same. Best servers promote it, so you better get that done with.
To set your audio settings, run wizard in "Settings".
To run, just go to "Server" - "Connect" - type your in-game nickname in "Username" and then it will show you a list of PR servers. Just click twice in whatever server you might be playing in. There will be Team 1 or Team 2, just look through your scoreboard and see who is connected in which or just ask around in Mumble. If you're struggling with this, just pm me and I will explain you better.

The best servers to play are Tactical Gamer |TG| (US), Noobs with Attitude *NwA* (EU) and Project Teamwork Alliance PRTA (EU) (the latter kicks anyone not using Mumble). For a good experience somewhere in between, to prepare you, try NEW, UNSTF or UKWF servers (and it's a better experience than CO-OP). 128 test server is a beta server and it definitely does not reflect the best experience you can find in PR, so have that in mind. Again, just tell people you're new and they will help you out.

Enjoy.

also, The depending on the version of bf2 you bought, It will probably be updated to v 1.41, I do not think they are selling updated to v1.5, Which is a large patch. Might be smart to download that just in case.

I bought the complete collection where it has the original game and all the expansions in one disk.

There's a bit of a back log, but when you get up and running you might try the PR Player Training course.

While your waiting you should also probably read the manual, if you haven't already.

Welcome to PR :D

Don't worry about installing anything other than just BF2. Special forces and what not aren't necessary for PR.

See you out there.

You dont have to download armoured fury and euro if you wanted them two anyway they come in patch 1.51
which you must download. You got to download 1.41 then 1.51 and then PR

i find it better to download games

but do not forget to download patch 1.41 before 1.51 or it will not work

and the expansion packs are free now except sf i think

Correction: 1.41 and 1.5

Not 1.51 or anything. Just to make sure you're not confused about the numbers.
