VOIP program with local positioning and overlay grafic control

With more players possible in PR and PR ARMA II which is in the works, the squadleader channel could become crowded on the servers that make heavy use of it. What would be good would be a programm where you can switch channels and operate it by bringing up a Grafical user interface at the push of a button. That way there could be a channel for the squadleaders a channel for the mortar team a channel for cas, so that if a squadleader needs either cas or mortars he can switch to the correct channel without talking to all the other squadleaders.

If it would have positional audio like mumble it would be perfect. Is anybody aware of such a program?

If you read through the dev updates on A2, they want to implement a "radio" system, much like ACRE.

He is talking about an ingame user interface, (like the map) which would be cool. as far as I know PRmumble can't do that.

Are we gonna have something like that in PR:BF2?

Yes taking the worst possible user into account a GUI would be nice. If mumble can do that on the push of a button its not bad either, one would have problems to get people to use that system though.

PR ARMA 2 seems to be settle then if the devs are working on something like that and I think the game attracts a playerbase open to such ideas to begin with. Now we need a solution for PR, although you dont want to rock the boat too much now that people are starting to use mumble :p

This is my main problem with mumble. When your in the SL channel the radio chatter quickly gets annoying since you have to listen to every conversation that is happening between all Squadleaders. It is bad enough that you have to listen to everyone nearby that wants to shout out useless chatter about how awesome they are preforming.

I really like mumble but i usualy just go with ingame sound unless if im driving a vehicle like an apc so that i can talk to whoever is in the back of my vehicle.

If mumble had a nice HUD ingame where you could easily mute everyone except your squadmembers and where you could accept incomming calls from other squadleaders when your ready for it then it would be much nicer.

Another big problem with Mumble is that it is very confusing to figure out who you are talking to and what squad he is in, again ingame voip has solved this.

I think he means Implementing a actual radio function into the game that does not require Mumble as about 80% of regular users really dont use mumble. so it would be better to implement a radio so that each squad has a radio channel and all u have to do is press a button or use a pop up 'comma rose interface' to transmit to other squads.
