Recently, I have noticed that the quality of the BF2 dieing animations are not very good. After playing Battlefield Play4Free, I have decided that some animations are better there. Since both animations are the same file type, would it be possible (or legal) to port the death animations into PR?
Notice some of the dieing animations:
I especially like the one at 0:43 where he is grabbing his arm.

Its the same engine - Refractor 2. Frostbite is used in BF BC / BF BC 2.

lol, its the same engine, the engine used in BFP4F is a refractor 2.0 version, heavily modified so it can have film grain, and other extra options, the refractor 2.0 was also used in battlefield 2.
The frostbite engine is part of the bad company series and the upcoming battlefield 3.

Both engines use the same animation file types. So it would be possible. I am going to try it sometime in the next few days.

I wish they could update all this new shiny stuff into BF2 I dont think it will happen though
although it could boost their sales of good old BF2
hmmm
just a though popped into my head
is that why they didnt release much source code? i am guessing because they were making BFP4F and where afraid mods like PR will make a whole lot better game with more tools(which they did with less )

Arent the bodys in BF2 just becoming ragdolls? Putting there arms wide before flapping around and falling to the ground?

Damn I wanna play BFP4F now xD and Cyber is right, there is no animation in BF2. After the avatars death, the body drops with some kind of ragdoll, thus being part of the ingame physics.
So I'm not quiet sure if you can import animations.

Hmm, but in the animations folder (pr\objects\soldiers\Common\Animations\3P) there seem to be a few animations with die in the name, like StandDie.baf, SwimDie.baf, similar to the ones in the BFP4F files.
But they are Hollywood style, I just thought that they looked better that the BF2 arm flopping.

I think thats for when you are in the water etc. Or when you stand and get stuck somewhere. In most of the cases they just become ragdolls it seems without any animation.

And the current ones are "spastic breakdance" deaths... i know what i would prefer.
The death animations in BFP4F are nice and it would be nice to have them (or something similar) in PR. However the ragdolls can be pretty funny sometimes...

Don't think they would even work in BF2. You can try of course.
