Insurgency maps CAS/Arty

Hi!

From seeing a lot of documentaries about the fighting in the middle east including against the taliban, it feels like 99% of the firefights are supported with CAS in form of attack helicopters or bombers or/and Artillery.

Don't you think there should be CAS or an artillery version of the mortar for all insurgency maps to make it more interesting and realistic?

Also I have so far never seen Kiowa attack helicopters being used as "heavy" CAS in any videos. The usual CAS are heavy attack helicopters (eg. Apache) and Jets.

Is the Kiowa really being used as heavy CAS against the taliban? I don't think they would send in Kiowas vs talibans that have technicals/RPGs/PKM/Quadcannons/AA missiles in the area.

I would like to see proper CAS or Arty support on all insurgency maps. It can easily be balanced out to work ingame. The one hour arty timing is waaaay too slow.

Try do this vs a technical:

I guess the hardest part of this is that it would be really hard to balance them out. Apache can just sit at 400 m height and rape you with its autocanon and thermal optics. How would you balance it, and how would you make it fun for redfor?

I understand that its realistic , but that does not mean it will be fun. AFAIK, war tends not to be fun, thats why we play video games :)

If I wanted all teams to be balanced out exactly the same I would go play vanilla.

You can always balance maps out with changing the assets you get on each team. Give opposite side some more technicals or buildable AA quadcannons would be very nice. Also when CAS comes by it should be scary enough to make insurgents hide and use their AA/RPG/HMGs properly.

Also the easiest way would be to reduce Blufor tickets if it turns out to be far too powerful, or make intelligence points show cache locations slower. If a Blufor would loose any men at all in an engagement they would bomb the enemies with all they had.

They aren't doing it against HMG either ;) And there is a bike in PR.

CAS and artillery will never be used the same way in PR as it would be used in real life. You don't have to worry about civilians and destruction of civilian buildings. There is a reason insurgents can't be defeated in real life, and it is just that. They blend in.

BrownBadger is correct, and remember in those videos they are trying to be as unbalanced as possible towards their own side :P

whereas in PR we have to give both teams a 50% chance of winning if the teams are of equal skill.

When and if 4k insurgency maps really get off teh ground, I'm sure you'll see more air power- especially with 128 players.

I still haven't seen blufor win on the 128 player test server.

An A-10 or an apache could possibly change that.

Locked as this is a suggestion outside of the appropriate forum.

Also, when making a suggestion you generally need to supply a source for your suggestion, especially for something like this. For the record youtube does not usually count as an appropriate source.
