Hello everybody.

My issue began 2 days ago when my steam downloaded the latest 11.5 drivers for ATI. After i installed the drivers all games worked fine. The only difference could be seen in Project Reality.

Black dots kept appearing whenever i moved. The terrain had million black spots all over and it is increasingly and disturbingly annoying.



What i did to fix the issue?

I uninstalled the 11.5 . Restarted . Installed 11.4. Did not work

I uninstalled the 11.4 . Restarted . Driver Cleaned AMD-ATI. Restarted. Installed 11.5. Didn't work.

I need your help with this.

Try to delete your cache folder content. My Documents -> Battlefield 2 -> Mods -> BF2 -> Cache.

I already deleted my cache after every restart. Thanks for the suggestion anyway

I just reinstalled Battlefield 2 and Project Reality completely and deleted the Battlefield 2 Folder on my documents entirely and the problem still persists.

I think i might need some medevac on this.

i had the same problem it got fixed after i enabled catalyst AI and put it on standard
i also reinstalled the DX9 from the BF2 CD after, i did both im not sure if reinstalling DX9 helps, since i didnt go in game after enabling catalyst AI, but it got fixed so i cant complain.

P.S new ATI drivers are such ****.

Did all the following nothing helped. Trying to reinstall 11.5 now maybe that will work with the new DX updates now.

I checked everything on the options. I reinstalled 11.5. Nothing helped the only thing that fixes the problem is putting terrain on low.

Any other suggestions i need it on high

you could try turning hardware acceleration off in windows, it might help

right click>screen resolution>advanced settings>troubleshoot>change settings
it should be in there.
since im putting random solutions out there
try putting mipmap level on quality instead of high quality (IDK but worth a shot)

It's an ATI problem you can easily fix. Go into your ATI CCC and enable Catalyst AI (or disable it, if it's enabled).

Enabling and disabling Catalyst AI doesn't help. I ll try the hardware shadows thing.

See this thread.. I think i've got it to work by setting the Terrain Texture to Low in-game (known fix) and then exiting and manually putting the Terrain Texture back up to 3 in the config file.

Thanks Mikemonster, setting my bf2 video option "terrain" from high to low has removed the black dots. But when I tried changing it back to high they appeared again, and I didn't delete the cache after setting back to high. I haven't tried medium. As stated in another post the catalyst a.i. being off/standard/advanced does not solve it, so for any new person to this thread with the same problem, heres your solution for now.

So,

Nvidia is the way to go?
