Steam Launch with PR.exe

I have BF2 off of Steam, and installed PR. When I get in game, in tells me I have to play the game by the correct PR.exe?
I tried doing the Steam fix with the AutoHoyKey and the LaunchPR file, still gave me the same error.
Help?

Same problem
installed icon has "pr.exe/pr" thing on it not bf2.exe as mentioned in the loading screen.
Deleted PR
reinstalled it into EA GAMES folder instead of steamapps
same result
even though it has the proper extension

hey, i wouldnt recommend installing pr in any other folder than the steamapps standard location. i know your problem , i had it too in the beginning of playing the mod....
what i tried to do was adding the pr.exe manually to the games folder in steam and starting it as admin. then also try to start the game before connecting to your steam account itself, it will automatically start it then. I think i finally went to a point where i just had to restart after the error message and it worked. what most likely will fix your problem is to create a new account. One question: when you start pr, does steam create a client bot for pr and ask for your permission?
it should...

There is no bot that asks for anything.
I changed the location of PR to EA games and brought over the EA games folder from my back-up but that didn't have any effect.
I don't know how to start PR/BF2 w/o using steam since it does it automatically and I am running XP as administrator.
I tried to DL BF2 into a different folder but steam didn't give me that option.
Then last night the comp crashed again so I had to do a full restore so I will be spending the day trying to reinstall everything.
Hopefully this time it will work better.

ok: i said add project reality manually not bf2(which already should be in your games section) .
Also try starting pr.exe directly from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\battlefield 2\mods\pr.
btw, you completely set up a new system just because of one crash??

on top of steam go to game , select "add non-steam game" to library, and add pr. check for your direct x version and eventually update. go to start-run- type dxdiag

last tip for reinstalling: install bf2 again in steam to preset directory. restart and then install project reality from the 3 installers, again to the preset directory! so bf2 should be in your steam folder , and pr in the directory i mentioned above.

It locked up and when I tried to restart it went to system recovery, I didn't have choice the second time.
But the first time I had everything as you described except for adding a non steam game.
I will try those steps, thank you.

Well adding PR to the list seems to have fixed the problem.
Thank You so much
And now I feel like an idiot because I never even looked for options inside Steam since it was PR giving me the message.

Then I got a " disallowed program " kick from PB
So I'm DL all the patches fresh and trying again with a fresh install of BF2
All because I clicked on a picture of Miley Cysrus

jeesus, how many times are you going to reinstall this **** lol
more likely
PunkBuster Online Countermeasures make sure you download and execute. disable all unnecessary programs and processes on your machine, so just steam and standard **** is running in tray
and dont forget to run as admin!
right click pr0957 shortcut and set it up to permanently get run as admin.
