View distance problem

Now i know this isn't a PR problem, rather it's been around since BF1942. I'm simply making this known so that perhaps a dev might be able to work their magic and fix it too.

View distance increases towards the left and right edges of your screen. It's been there before but it's only become really a problem for me at least now that we have FLIR sights on armored vehicles. Last night on Kashan i was playing as a tank gunner for the MEC. After our first encounter with the Abrams we sat there and watched the paths leading to the bunkers I was scanning the horizon with thermals on that suddenly right at the left edge of my screen a bright white figure of a tank showed up. I turned to sight in on it but with thermals on it was invisible, thermals off just a slight blur against the fog, i managed to get two shots off on it and got the kill.

This tank i would not have spotted without this little design flaw in the system. As we know as the distance increases past the VD thermal readings fade off making them invisible, but the change in VD towards the edges is enough that the thermal reading is at it's max. I assume this is because the fog isn't a dome around you but instead a flat plane. Would it be possible for it to be changed so that it's a curved surface that covers your FOV?

I'll be uploading a few simple images to show what i mean here:

IIRC I read a few years ago that the view range is like a box, so it reaches further if you look sideways. Since it's such an integral part of the engine I doubt it can be modded.

Not a PR bug, sometimes you can notice same thing in other games too.
