vBF Problems with Internet

Hello.

As some of you may know, I am interested in getting PR. Now my exams are over, I am going to download it within the hour! Only problem is, I don't want what happens when I play vBF when I'm playing PR.

I can join a game alright, but usually every 2 to 3 minutes, I experience a slight rollback with;

THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH YOU INTERNET CONNECTION

This lasts for 10 or so seconds.

The only trouble i have is to why do i get this? My internet is good. I can play any game on my Xbox fine, and back in the day, I never had problems with WoW. Here are my specs;
10-12 Mbps Upload
1Mbps Download
30-40 PING
0% Packet Loss
2ms Jitter
If it's any constellation, I live in Scotland, where the internet is still ADSL 2 (I think!)

Will i experience these problems with PR? Thanks for the help in advance.

What's your system specifications? Poor performance can also lead to lag, indirectly.

Now that you say that, it probably is my system, which puts me in a bad place for downloading PR sayings as i can run vBF.
AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 4600+ 2.40GHz
2 GB of RAM
ATI Radeon HD 3450 (256MB)
Whats the graphics options like? Can I turn down view distance and clutter and the detail of the graphics?

If you are using windows vista theres a piece of software called VAL (Vista Anti Lag) it is completely safe to use and stops lag spikes with wireless connections.
Vista Anti Lag V1 1 1 - Free Download from megaupload - Filestube.com
If you are on windows 7 then i have no fix for you :/

You can... I am not exactly sure if it would work with that GPU, but try this site:

Can You Run It?

How does it work? No offence but that seems rather dubious. Does it have an official website?

Also, how do I install this mod? Do i install each individual part or download them all THEN install?

Dv83r wrote:The latter. Just make sure you install the three clients in the correct order. I also recommend you download the two optional map packs so you know for sure you have all the maps that are used in PR.
Do i download the map packs first then install the 3 main files?

Also, what one do you click on to install? When you have all 3 is it the first you click on?

Do I have to have all 3 of them in the same folder? Could you just do a step by step post on how to do it? I'm confusing myself :p

The installer will handle everything.

Be advised though, 2 GB of RAM and a 256 MB video card might be a bit weak, most people would probably suggest 4 GB of RAM and a 512 MB video card, or similar. PR is a whole lot more hardware hungry than vBF2 due to its excessive awesomeness.

step by step install:
1. patch vBF2 to patch 1.41
2. patch vBF2 to patch 1.50
3. install PR part 1
4. install PR part 2
5. install PR part 3
6. install map packs for PR/move the maps into the correct folders.

It doesn't matter which order you download them, it's installing them that matters.
You open each installer seperatly, make sure you install them in the correct order (1,2,3).
It doesn't matter which folder the PR installers are in even if thye are in different folders to begin with as long as they install into the correct one which they should automatically the mod will work.

System advice:
to run PR smoother i recomend:
- 4 GB of RAM
- at least 512 MB gpu, might as well upgrade to a 1 GB while your at it
- your cpu should be fine for now.

If you want a new computer i recomend building one btw ;D it'll deeply increase your understanding of computers and how everytihng functions if your not sure, don't worry it's not hard xD

The connection issues could be caused by multiple things:
- Someone stealing your Wi-Fi, i recomend changing your passwor dif you think this is the case.
- Someone using the internet in the house.
- If your using wireless there could be interferance in the connection, same with some wired connections
- Make sure your modem isn't in near something that'll interfere with it.
- If this fails call up your ISP and complain about it, they should send in someone so check it out for you, but don't ask for it unless they ask if they can help with anything else without offering it to you, hopefully for free (BT do it for free afaik, not sure about your ISP).

You, Sir shall receive 10 Internets for your hardships! Greatly appreciated :D

I am in a bit of a predicament, to say the least. You see, I'm still at school, but my exams are pretty much over, as I have 1 left, Graphic Communication, And it's piss easy. I would try to get a job over the summer, but being unfit, my priorities are to join a gym so I can get fit enough for active service in the Army. I suppose I could get a job, but it would be hard to balance the times with the gym, training (MMA), and job. That being said, I would only need ?400 for a new tower setup, as i can replace the piece of F*@&%$? S>?$ I'm running just now! Which is my next problem, as the money I do have, I'm saving up to get into Airsoft. The joys of life! I guess I should save up for a PC first as I can play it more than Airsoft.

How do i check what version of vBF I'm on?

Sorry, In my confusion I forgot about that bit. Here was me thinking I'd be on PR by 5. The 536MB patch is good but the 2GB one? ;_;

FilePlanet: Battlefield 2 Patch v1.41
FilePlanet: Battlefield 2 Patch v1.5

Are those the right ones? I don't want to download them only to find out they were the wrong ones.

Yes those are the correct ones.
I got the complete collection of BF2 so i'm assuming that you can go from 1.0 to 1.41...
also yeah the 2GB download gives you two map packs free, even i had to download all the maps again.... even though i already ahd them -.-
Don't worry it's only a day later and the real action starts over the weekend!

Here are the offical links to 1.50:

No problem!
Here at PR we love new players asking and not just giving up, if you have problems please just ask.
Also while you wait for BF2 patches to download read over the manual (link)

Enjoy

Do you have Xfire? if you do add me:
