Where is the Guide?

I have a few questions.
1. Where is the guide? I can not find it.
2. How popular is this game still? How many people play on an average day?
3. What all do I need to run the game? I.e. patches, addons, and/or expansion packs.
4. Are people still working on this game?
5. How easy is it to get the hang of? Black Ops sucks. :P

Any and all help/info will be greatly appreciated. Lata Gata'z!

1: Still a WIP
2. Popular
3. 1.41 patch, 1.5 patch for Bf2, mumble is recommended but not needed.
4. yes, it is very active
5. It has quite the learning curve, but read the manual and you should get used to it.

Hey Bravo Delta, welcome to Project Reality.

1. The guide will install when you install the mod. You'll see a link on your desktop that will open an easy-to-read PDF with pictures, etc.
2. There are usually six or more full servers and another dozen or so partially full servers, and players from all over the world (not just the US)
3. Files and information on the latest release (0.957) can be found here.
4. Yes, updates and news items can be read here, but Project Reality isn't just a BF2 mod, so you'll also see news about our ARMA2 mod, PR:Vietnam and PR2.
5. The guide will help you for sure, but overall the mod makes BF2 a lot more in-depth, with focus on teamwork, communication, strategy, and more. Don't worry though. Just tell people you're new and most everyone will help you until you get the hang of it... but definitely read through the manual first.

Enjoy :)

About the guide:

There has been many promises to my recollection over the guide, alas there still isn't one, at least one available for the public. There used to be a link to a guide on this site, but the guide was password protected and nobody could read it, if there was anything to read that is.
https://www.realitymod.com/guide/

The guide is something that would really attract new players - and more importantly mostly the kind of player types that this mod suits - by showcasing and explaining the features of the mod. It is not as hard to come across and not as daunting to read through as the countless tutorials on the forums.

The guide would also make things much more clear for new players and why not help older players on those things they've yet to master. Now you might say "But that's what the manual is for!!" Yes, that is right BUT the manual is far from comprehensive and hardly introduces the reader to any of the vast amount of weapons, weapon systems, vehicles and their own little quirks or all the other STUFF in PR that you just have to know. For example the difference between LG and LT for all those fresh out of vanilla players.

I hope that one day soon the guide is an essential part of these sites! Should I have started a new thread for this?

I'm guessing that when Bravo Delta asked for a guide, that he meant manual. It may not be completely up to date, but it's a great start for new players. I don't know a single manual (or guide) that explains the ins and outs of every possible aspect of a game. Some things you just have to learn as you go.

But here is the manual that everyone gets when they download the mod:
https://www.realitymod.com/manual/pr_manual.pdf

The guide is now called the wiki and we're trying to update it right now... but it takes people and time, and please remember that we're all volunteers. :)

so true, also if there was an attractive and comprehensive guide it would save us from all the bloody noobs with no clue at all. i know there are people out there that wont even read the manual, but anyway. i guess i also tried to get right into it and ruin other people`s gameplay, mainly because i didn`t realize how high the learning curve actually is as beginner. but after some annoying questioning and basic training, i decided to get into it and try being SL , which helped me a lot. Anyway, i have to say that successful leading is often compromised by own (stupid) squad members, that are just not up to it!! (speaking of situational awareness)
So i suggest there are 2 phases of gameplay initiation(similar to America`s Army!): first is the "must-be accomplished" training, a mixture of questions and tests for the most important actions(and, or: knowledge) to be taken in various online gameplay modes. Only if you pass the test and proof your worthiness on the battlefield, you proceed to phase 2, the actual online gameplay itself. A medic that doesn`t know how to heal himself, or apc-gunner without any clue are a real bummer in pr! you know what i mean????

It's a joke. The devs have my full respect.

5. To someone who is not used to battlefield 2, it can take a while to get used to. Start by practicing on a coop server.

6. Luckily only the forums are full of sarcastic asses.
You will only encounter a few in game.
