Why can't I run PR on max?

AMD Phenom 9500 X4 @ 2.2GHZ
4GB RAM
Nvidia GT430
Windows 7 x64
I can barely play this game with medium settings and it crashes if I try high settings. Could it be that I have 300w power supply or would that even effect gaming performance?

dunno man i got some weird stuff going on aswell.. if i run pr on low or max it lags like f*ck but if i run it on medium, even with view range max etc. it works perfect.

If you have some kind of program that forces anti aliasing and other settings of the like, make sure to adjust them for better performance.

PR actually stretches out the BF2 engine A LOT, so some maps are terribly optimized (i'm looking at you Fallujah West). So a 430 would be a lower-medium card that most definitely won't be able to play on max.
Heres my specs
Phenom II 955 @ 3.6
ATI 5770 @ 900/1350
4gb ddr2 800
600w power
I run it on max with 25-60 average FPS

300 does sound low for your graphics card tbh mate

its more than likely your processor.
i looked at the passmark bench and your processor is worse than q6600 ( what i have) and mine gets 30fps in some places like fallujah OC'd. your cpu is rated 2,100.... q6600 = 3,000. i couldn't find a fps bench because it seems to be an unpopular cpu.

remember bf2 only uses one core and 2200 mhrz just aint that much

GeForce GT 430 1024MB review
ZOTAC GeForce GT 430 1 GB Review - Page 26/32 | techPowerUp
Considering a system with an i7 overclocked to 3.75ghz & all power saving functions disabled, GPU being stress tested drained 242W total... I think his low power Phenom (stock) will be more than fine
And the answer to your question why you can't max PR, eminent...
You're using a low/mid end CPU + lowish end GPU to run a very taxing game.
My i7 @ 3.6ghz + HD5870 were taxed by PR at maxed out settings, so to hear that your system would be able to manage it would make someone like me rather sad.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 2.83 GHz + HD4850 + 6Gb ram, I play pr on max settings, max resolution staying ~120fps. Some uber low-opt maps (ones with fields basically) brings my pc to ~40fps, but there's no stuttering.
So how does that work xD

This may not be your problem, but I personally have had a few little background applications that gradually slow down my computer over time. If you haven't already, have a look at ccleaner, it's a general cleaning/registry fix tool that does all the stuff, and it's free to use. If you have some free time, check the box that says 'wipe free space' as well, it's sped up my system a lot.

What exactly does the "wipe free space" option do? I haven't looked into it myself and didn't want to try anything I wasn't sure about.

I have a i7 @2.8
6GB ram
Res: 1920x1080
ATI 5750 ( well something close to those numbers, I don't remember)
Win 7 64
All on my laptop and I run around 100 fps always and am usually the first to load the came cuz it's at 3:00 min even almost every time a server changes level. I know people have way better specs then me but I still run te game better then they do. PR seems really picky about exactly what components your computer has in it. Seems to enjoy intel and ATI things well. It's just really hit or miss with this game is what Iv noticed.

Meh I can no longer even play on any setting without lag and it lags the same amount on low or max settings..Can run crisis 2 maxed out though.Imo this version is just badly optimized.

I run PR on max with antialiasing maxxed out with an HD 5850. HOWEVER on some maps the framerate dips as low as 30 FPS. I would say your graficcard is just not powerfull enough. To max out PR an ATI HD 5850 is what you are looking at, though you could get by with less, but not much less.

Meh when I bought my 5750 I didn't have the same problem but I ran it on all high and my game just crashed when I had 110-120 FPS.

I would spend some time looking into background tasks, and checking the settings in whatever 'control panel' type software NVidia's drivers include.
I'm running a Phenom X3 8650 (@ 2.7ghz however), ATI HD4850, 4Gb ram, and Win 7 64 bit. No issues here when running on high, never drop below 50fps.
One last question, does Vanilla BF2 run well on high settings? Because there are issues with Win 7, and 64 bit OS in general.

I also have an i7 @ 3.61GHz, with a GTX280, and on some maps (think Fallujah and Korengal), my frame-rate drops sometimes to 30fps. My settings are the highest possible (16x AA etc.)
