Further explanation of the title.
As PR features heaps of really exciting factions but right now the maps are faction specific and eventually we are going to get to a point where there are going to be more maps then factions. Ok maybe not but thing is many of the Blufor factions are interchangeable.
So hence take Lashkan valley for example Currently it's just the Germans fighting the Taliban. So instead of the Germans always versing the Taliban will it be possible for the Blufor faction to be randomly selected from factions that suit the role.
Hence a randomly selected from UK U.S. Army Germany Canada and (French?) So it's not always the same keep things different. Obviously when that particular faction has a overpowering asset then they will be removed from the selection pool and when the faction makes no sense ie Mec vs Taliban on Lashkan.
But otherwise we can have some more interesting battles and factions and more variety in the battles,.
What do you think?

Maps are often made with factions in mind and for a specific purpose etc. however if you look at all the maps being made by the community you will see that there will be enough for each faction, do not worry.

sorry you cannot dynamically change factions
you can set up gameplayobject files per gameplay layer loading a different team, however this can only be done if the 2nd team uses the same language files as there isn't a way to load new ones when we do this.
so for example you could theoretically put a different USenglish team on a 32 layer to the 64.
This is one of the many problems with having so many factions ingame, however I'm pleased by the progress of many community mappers so I hope we'll address the small number of maps per faction

Nice idea all the same, perhaps a PR:ARMA2 consideration...
same map, but..
Random Factions On Load
Random Game mode on Load
Random Amounts of assets...On Load
And by random, of course we mean randomly selected from a pre-defined setup

this brings up however the feasability of bringing out the same maps with different teams, as was done with the desert rats map though in this case only for sp/coop.
so instead of one lashkar (to use the above example) with only germans, there would be several version of it with different (in this case blufor) factions.

having like 3 copies of a map will make the PR files FUKIN huge!!! (excuse my french/german/polish/other non-english lang)
The maps atm take up 2.32 GB, that is about half the PR folders size, thank god for compression other wise it'd be around 7-8 GB.
Increasing it just to put a different faction on a map when we could just have a NEW!!!!!!!! sparkling map, would be silly, however you could for example have the taliban or insurgency on the same map and i think MEC? same with miltia and russia....afaik, I'm not entirly sure.

the size: that was what I realised soon after writing my comment as well, I think the maps are worth about half or two-thirds of the overall modsize.
what you mean is having several vehicles, soldiermodels(with respective kitgeoms) of different factions with a common language. idea is nice, but doesn't work out so well (imagine a MEC soldier with a taliban kitgeom, or an insurgent driving a tank etc.)
restating my idea: perhaps some maps might deserve a second version, as apparently Kashan desert did, for factions that don't have a lot of maps (coming). or we'll just let this for mappacks/sp addicts etc.
but would you guys aprove of maps being used a second time as say... placeholders for new factions that are low on maps? (e.g. Germans, Canadians) or on a particular form/style of maps (as in urban, woodland or insurgency etc.)?

"Random factions" isn't possible like rudd said and the best we can do is have factions that share the same language and accent but have them on different layers. This means if you have a map with the US Army on it, you could swap them for the USMC or the Canadian forces on a different layer, but you couldn't swap them with the British as the accent is totally different. We do plan to do this a little in the future but the solution as I said above is for the community to make more maps for there factions as playing the same map over and over gets boring anyways.
