Mumble teams

I am sick of every round starting with players asking around for what mumble team they are on. It is stupid and doesn't help anyone.
Can we not have a general rule, that the team who's flag is on the left side of the team select menu (press Enter key, you know?) is team1 on mumble as well. The other team, with the flag on the right is team2 in mumble.
So after round change, Alt-Tab out, check what team you're on in mumble and adjust, instead of asking everyone and not getting a straight answer. Half the time people lie to you and troll you anyway.
The worst with the current "system" is that you will get kicked if you do it slightly wrong. Yes this stems from my own experience of friends getting kicked. Maybe you just became squad leader because the other guy dropped out? Do you have time in the middle of a firefight to be able to get on mumble before you are kicked by a script, or worse, an admin who doesn't listen?
So back to my suggestion:
To prevent stupid mistakes that will get a heli pilot kicked and his chopper crashed, Team1 on mumble is the team that has the left flag in the briefing image and the team select tab.
Every player is responsible for checking that in-game, instead of asking "teams? Mumble? hello?" without anybody listening or replying.

Suppose it might be equally annoying for players to have to change channels after every round, especially if their systems are prone to alt-tab crashes, which isn't that rare even with the alt-tab fix, especially during or shortly after loading screens.
But maybe this won't be a problem anymore by the next release of PR, as there's talk about mumble, too, being updated and team switches being done automatically.

That's a whole lot of hassle for a non-issue.
Instead why don't we just educate people to actually look at the mumble channels and see who is on what team. I mean honestly, pick a couple of SLs in game, remember their names and compare them to the SL channels in mumble. Is that really so difficult?

I agree with Spec_Operator and Web_cole: it is actually easier to just compare SL names instead of having to swap every round.
On a side note... if someone asks "which mumble team is which", it takes but a few seconds to type "us team 1". Doing this 100 times should take less than I did to write this post.

technically thats just quoting, Just be patient guys when we got 0.6 or 1.0 pr mumble it will be so awesome we will all send in $20 donations to realitymod.com or find something else to complain about. I hope for the next mumble to have a "setup" thing so everyone uses overlay and has settings properly. Anyway thanks mumble makers...

To do that I still gotta alt-tab out.
The current idea a lot of times presumes that people will be playing with the same teams across several rounds, which doesn't happen a 100% of the time.
So how come it's not easier to check if you're on team1 or team2 than to compare the names of several squad leaders who might be wrong themselves?

Lets not "fix" what isn't broken in the first place

Don't ask what team it is, match names the names!
The current system require that people can alt tab, and match the names (actually being able to read the names is not strictly required). Your system has a lot more work in it.
--------
But a new pr mumble would be much appreciated. We need the whisper system now.

Ok, lets do a direct comparison then.
Current system:
Load into the game > Remember a couple of SLs names > Alt tab > Find correct mumble channel. Sorted.
(The "Oh but people might not be in the right channel" argument is just silly. Its not that often that someone is in the wrong channel (especially an SL) and you minimize the danger by remembering
more than 1 name. Not a problem)
Your system:
Alt tab between every round and switch mumble teams.
zenarion wrote:To do that I still gotta alt-tab out.
Even assuming you are switching teams (and therefore mumble channels) every so often, or that some silly person made you join the wrong channel, your still doing more alt tabbing with your system.
Anyway, the next version of mumble, which will presumably be released with the next version of PR will (hopefully) solve all of these little niggles with the current mumble.

But it does happen more than 50% of the time, so...

You are right. Let's
improve it. XD

Whispering IRL would work if you didn't have static, correct?

I'm not talking about us whispering, and mumble making it normal again. It's a system there you set up whispers = buttons to talk to either to single users (your best friend), users groups (server admins) or channels (SL channel). The use of whispers can be limited or denied by ACL in the mumble server.
