Should I get a 480 GTX? Or a mid-range 500 series card? (550 - 570)

Is it still worth getting a 480 GTX nvidia video card if I don't want to spend the money on a 580? Or is worth looking at one of the lower end 500 series cards?

the 4xx series tends to run hot and loud (not including the 460).
The 5xx series eliminated these problems as well as slight performance increases.
The 480 may be slightly better than the 570 in terms of performance, but
I would recommend buying a 570, and perhaps in the future purchase a second and run them in SLI.
Two 570s are extremely powerful and run relatively quiet/cool.
My two pence

What games do you want to run with the new card? How much is your max cost?
Answer those two questions and you'll have your answer. A new 570 isn't much more than a new 480, might want to splurge if you're willing to go that distance in the first place.

I've got the same question, which card? I want to play ArmA 2, Crysis 2 all on high(est) settings @ 1680x1050 and BF3 of course. Is less than 150 € possible or must it be 150 - 200 € ?

Well I decided to go for high end GTX 580 after all. I found one that was $80 off and sold for just under $400. Also bought an i7 2600k CPU. And thus begins the start of my new build. I hope to finish this before the BF3 beta.
