When I try to run PR via the "Project Reality 0957' shortcut on my desktop, or via pr.exe in the bf2/mods/pr folder, I get the starting splash screen for project reality, the PR icon appears in my taskbar for a few seconds, and then my screen will go black. After my screen goes black, it will stay that way for 2-3 seconds, and then it goes back to my desktop, with no bf2.exe or pr.exe appearing in my task manager.

this is actually a copy paste from a different thread but I am having the same exact problem and no1 suggested any ideas so please help me join this awesome community

Did you run it as an administrator?

Also try running it in compatibility mode with xp.

See if it works.

yea I have tried that neither options changed anything...I will say that be4 I install PR battlefield works just fine once I install PR neither Battlefield: PR nor regular Battlefield work...

Having same problem with 96.

Have you guys tried

1. the video.con manipulation
2. deletion of "My Documents/Battlefield 2"
3. windowed mode
4. setting admin/compatibility modes

(which were mentioned in other threads already)


What exactly have you guys already tried?

I have exacly the same problem, I am running windows 7 ultimate 64bits. I have not bother trying bf2 yet but have the same problem with the crashing at the start. What is the video.con manipulation and the other things? Can you link the thread pls? Could try to find it as well!

Run in windowed mode by right clicking your PR shortcut. In the Target section, change "+ fullscreen 1" to "+ fullscreen 0"

Hopefully you'll receive an error message.

If his problem like mine in windowed mod still game not give any error report.

modify your video.con to have your monitors native resolution and refresh rate

I can do it with in game too thats not the problem I think.

I am using 1280x1024 60hz

I got the same problem after I updated my graphics drivers for my GeForce 460 to 275.33...it worked perfectly before.

And that is why your problem is completely different from his.
He cannot even get into the game to change the settings...

After installing drivers NVidia sometimes resets the 3D settings (NVidia control panel) to defaults. Also it might be that support for some resolutions (usually the ones that are not directly supported by the monitor) get disabled. Did you try manipulating the video.con and set the correct res AND Hz for your monitor?
