My mate wants to start playing PR, but is on a tight budget. He's looking for a computer around ?350-?450 that will be able to run pr well. I don't think he will want to build one since he doesn't know about that at all but i may be able to persuade him.

Can anyone reccomend a desktop or a good custom build for that price?

Well... CPU - i3-2100, some kind H67 or if available - P67 mobo, 4 GB@ 1333 MHz Kingston memory, GPU - GTX 550 Ti or Radeon 6850, PSU - Corsair CX 500. ;)

Here is one video - maybe can be useful ;)

I found a decent (pre-done)setup for him, for 377.85 GBP

1. Case = Antec Three Hundred.

2. Motherboard = Gigabyte M68MT-S2 DDR3 Motherboard

3. Processor = AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 850 "95W Edition" 3.30GHz

4. Processor Cooler = Akasa Venom CPU Cooler

5. RAM = Corsair XMS3 4GB 1600MHz CAS9 Memory Kit

6. GPU = Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6450 1024MB GDDR3 Graphics Card

7. HDD = Western Digital Blue 500GB SATA 6Gb/s HDD

8. Optical Drive = 22x DVD?RW SATA ReWriter (Black)

9. PSU = OCZ StealthXstream 2 600W Power Supply

Thats the basic stuff, also you can upgrade things for better if he wants to pay more, eg could have a better GPU or more RAM. But them specs above will run PR np.

EDIT: Also if you change number 6. Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6450 to a GeForce GTX 460 OC 1024MB GDDR5 Graphics Card the price will be.. 421.87 GBP
And it will still be in his Budget.

Gives a shout if he wants anything upgrading/de-grading and i will re-arange the price.

If I may, i would recommend this site-

Its like a hybrid option instead of choosing a Set-Up desktop, and building your own.

Just select all the options and they'll build it and ship it to you, check the forums, theyve got a really good reputation too.

PCSPECIALIST.CO.UK - Custom PCs, Custom Computers, Custom PC, Desktop PC, Custom Built Computers, Gaming PC

I managed to build a great looking cheap-ish set-up on (HERE) there for around ?750, but thats because my budget is higher, shameless promotion of my thread to ask for help....
