I have just had to do a complete reinstall of BF2 and Project Reality after I bought a new computer.
I followed the reinstall procedure as outlined in the PR manual up to the point
of running the patch 1.41, then I tried to test the game before installing PR
and I managed to get kicked from 2 of the 4 servers I tried after a few minutes with the error message "A1392 C2.181 error loading pbcl"
I think this is telling me that I need to update to the latest version of punkbuster?
1)I thought punkbuster should update automatically so not sure why I am getting kicked?
2)If I need to do a manual update of punkbuster how do I do this?(do i need to uninstall the old version (if yes where is it located) and where do I get the files to do the update?)
3)If I just ignore this issue will it give me problems once I have installed Project Reality?

Please post in the appropriate section.
Go here PunkBuster Online Countermeasures
Try Googling it, apparently it could be a Vista issue.

Re: Punk Buster Problems
Thanks for the reply (I am not using Vista but XP pro)
1)What is the appropriate section to post it in and I will repost?
2)I have seen the site u directed me to, and it seems to suggest punkbuster should update automatically.
Therefore I am slightly confused about why this issue was happening now as my previous install of BF2 had no such issue.
I also noticed that the suggested install order in the PR manual (BF2, BF2 spec Forc, then booster packs and patch 1.41) doesnt seem to work for me as I got prompted to install a patch before it would allow me to install the booster packs (I therefore had to install the patch 1.41 twice once before the booster packs and then I got prompted to install the patch at the end).
So I was posting to see if anyone had a similiar experience and to find out how they resolved it (googling it didnt help me).

Re: Punk Buster Problems
Just reinstalled BF2 - 1.41 - Core - Levels on a new harddrive. I got the exact same error as yours when I joined the first server. Click the link above and scroll down and find the version that fits to your operating system.
Open the program once installed, add BF2 and check for updates. It fixed it for me.

Re: Punk Buster Problems
thanks again for the assistance.
Just to clarify I think you are suggesting that I install the punkbuster auto updater program?
are u also suggesting in addition that I revert to a basic install with no speical forces or booster packs, or should installing the auto updater be sufficient?

Re: Punk Buster Problems
PBsetup is for manual updating. See if the game works after using that and post the result. Like I posted above, I just installed my game on a new harddrive and got the same error as yours, but using PBsetup fixed it.
