Fact is that its hard to be decisive at first for many people. Its hard to basically order people around. Its not a comfortable feeling alot of the time. Its alien. But then its part of the game. At first I was scared of being judged for not making good decisions but then I realized that I wanted to squad lead and that many people were desperate for someone to even do a half assed job just so that they could get out there and pwn a little, the right way.

I remember the line from Band of Brothers, in the episode where they assault the town of Foy and Lipton makes this remark about their new inept Company CO:

"Dike wasn't a bad leader because he made bad decisions. He was a bad leader because he made no decisions."

Simple enough to understand the wisdom in that. You must make decisions that keep your squad reacting and together. The longer you are silent during an engagement the more people will begin to either freeze and die or act independently and deprive you of squad cohesion.

Be decisive. Its better to make the wrong decision now than the right one after its too late. Don't get bogged down and keep your men sharp. A sense of purpose and that you're in control of the situation means the guys will react better and act together. Though, another thing I've learned is that as long as your squad isn't totally incompetent you can trust people to get it done and you don't need to micromanage them too much. Within about 20 to 30 minutes they will begin to mesh together in how they act and you will need to say less to get the same net gain.

Being SL is a pain but its also in my opinion the most satisfying element of this mod.

Man i love squad leading.. I get to boss people around, thats alot of fun..

I really like to order people to supress a target, and then say thats not supressive fire... haha

Whenever i squadlead, i feel that it is my obligation and my job, to make sure these men are having fun. Either it be joking around, or making a tactical assault.

But never be boring as a squadleader. That will make people really jumpy, and trigger happy. Just make sure the squad is calm.

Do that by also yelling at them, telling them thats wrong and overdoing the yelling by saying stuff like: "if you dont hit that target, im going to put your eyes in your ***, maybe youll hit something then!"

Etc.

So, squadleading for me is to fulfill the goals strategicly on the map, with tactical precision, while maintaining a high sence of moral and humor. Thats what makes my day.

That is also why i like to be in mech inf, cause they have shorter times to travel, and when they get into the action they have a really big gun with them, which boost moral. So it means more fun, more pwning, and humor is really simple for people in apcs. Keeping them stressed will keep their level of adrenaline up, aswell as their fun factor, which makes leading mech inf squads really easy.
Xact Wicca is The Joker. That is all.

PFunk sais it all :) When I just joined [T&T] I was squad leading a lot. Now I had a month or so where I havent squad-lead at all. In a recent game I got bumped up to squad-leader due to a disconnect and I kinda liked the feeling. So I will try to go SL again keeping PFunk's words in mind.
