Interested in experimental SF map/mode ?

As the letters up say its about how many people would be interested in a experimental map/mode

Some people have been requesting SF involved in maps or SF themed maps

So im one of those who would like to see an experimental map/mode

The Theme is simple, 16 BLUFOR vs 48 OPFOR or 20% vs 80% map, SF unit against terrorists(any OPFOR faction) where the SF have an objective to destroy whilst the terrorists(any OPFOR faction) need to defend it from getting destroyed

Of course if anyone is willing to make such a map that would be great, though as it says its experimental

I am no mapper, this thread is just to see how many people would be interested in such a experimental map/mode, if its a mode + map then maybe u can setup pythons so it locks the player distribution on a server ie. BLUFOR 16 - OPFOR 48 -

btw. id actually make a pool but i kinda feel if i try do that im going to be shoot

what would the goal be? take out an objective like a cache/person?

can you make uneven teams with the bf2 engine? i know you can turn auto balance off, but can you actually cap one team at 12 and the other at 48?

Yeah some sort of cache/warehouse. SF forces would need a BIG advantage, like Nightstalker (160th Special Aviation Reg.) custom BHs and LBs with like 3 miniguns on each side (thats an example btw). If that was so you'd only need 3 kits ,officer (which wouldn't make you humpback), rifleman and medic. I would suggest putting 2 different rifleman kits in with different guns like a silenced SCAR and a silenced Mp7 or Mp5 (for real SF authenticity) or a G36 (which you guys still have right?). I'm not sure how you could make it so BLUFOR has the advantage...and OPFOR is defending too... maybe a bump up on the amount of limited kits? I remember someone saying minigun humvees in the suggestion area...then someone said they were used by spec ops only...+1 on night mission too. What was that night map on vBF2 (it was like massive). Still brainstorming on my own here...I dunno maybe just new guns that are much much better (bringing back vBF2 models/guns like MG36, P90, jackhammer...maybe you could ask german forces to borrow some of their models ) but I still think no matter what if you could do 12v52 map it would ALWAYS be in the insurgents favour. The reason irl spec ops have the advantage is gear and training and suprise which doesn't count for much here because 1. Guns don't jam, you aren't affected by weight, AKs are just inaccurate as hell 2. Training doesn't do anything in PR 3. We are playing an FPS you'll know their coming...

I would like the idea but it would be unbalanced. We all know that the Special Forces has a lot of good gadgets and weapons. If they were to face Insurgents with nothing more than AK-47's and 74's. Against SF weapons with things like Night vision, etc. That would be very unfair.

I think it should just stick to Army, but we could always re-add a SF kit on rare maps that they would be good on. Have the limited very much though. Have like 2 Special Forces kits that can be requested.

Give them claymores, C4, Silences Pistols, and the other tools the SF uses. Would be interesting.

@ Demonic the advantage would be for the insurgents...they'd have 4+ guns to every 1 BLUFOR gun which I would take any day over a silenced SCAR (example)

The advantage would be on the Insurgents side? I have played Insurgency mode a lot (more than AAS) and it seems perfectly balanced for each side but really the NATO side already has the weapon advantages if people knew how to use that advantage properly.

I have been in countless long distance fire-fights as insurgents and have lost pretty much most of them. NATO side has both long distance advantages and short distance.

The ability of armor transport into hot spots and heli rides behind enemy lines. The Insurgents have things to counter all these assets but only because the armor and infantry don't work together. The Infantry could protect the IFV's from RPG's and spot mines. While the IFV's could give the Infantry supporting fire and armor protection if they need to get behind it.

Mostly infantry squads just go wander by themselves looking for caches and despite being ambushed by more people than there squad. They usually always come out on top. While leaving the IFV's to move in by themselves un-protected against RPG's and mines. leaving them vulnerable to enemy ambushes.

Having everybody Special Forces would completly unbalance the game-play IMO. That's just my opinion on the subject. Not saying it shouldn't be done or isn't a good idea.

If the teams were even then they would be unfair. If it was in the city all insurgents would have to do is hole up in buildings and ambush BLUFOR when they were only 20 meters away or inside. and THEN they'd have their numbers and power the of 7.62mm to shoot the SF dudes to pieces. And sorry for seeming to flame you lots but SF operators don't use any form of armor support. Thats one of the things that people just don't associate SF with....

Lets not forget that no'one experienced a 16 vs 48 game let alone saying that 16 uber'quipped SF guys can beat 48 terrorists, even at night while opfor has the advantage with night googles i doubt that the area where the objective is wouldn't be liten up...

And SkaterCrush don mention any P90, devs have a bad mood when they see someone typing about it

Oh demonic in a SF map there are no tanks or IFV's because its a SF map, the whole point is that the SF lads destroy an objective while the terrorists are not expecting it, a light transport or a heavy one would fit but nothing besides that and maybe a specialised car like the FAV or DPV( not sure if i spelled it correct )

And the objective would most likely be in an urban area where a long range fight wouldn't be much of a use, though a fight is possible in a remote location but is most likely in a forest a thick one...

They would often drop a couple of vehicles so they could move in to there destination and ditch them when they are close. Use them as a quick escape to get to there pickup destinations if they aren't picked up in the combat zone.

However I wasn't talking about that, I was talking about the Army Insurgency maps. How NATO already has the advantage only most people don't know how to use it because there is a lot of teamwork in PR but almost no coordination with other squads.

Again...4 AK-47s shooting a 7.62mm bullet against a G36 shooting a 5.56mm thats a big difference in damage AND the amount of bullets. IRL 1v1 we'd win because theres a better chance the insurgents gun would jam or misfire etc. and they can't shot for shit and our guns have a better rate of fire, but 4v1 wouldn't be good even IRL...

Ok maybe you got a point there, uneven teams would balance it out more but I can't really see anybody wanting to play that. That's just me however. Other people probally have a different opinion and would love to play it. I just find putting in SF kits in regular Insurgent mode to be a better option. Limiting it like the sniper kits.

Although in this mode its more like the SF expansion in vBF2, where its basically different guns, new player models and maybe a grappling hook to every kit

I think this would be a good idea although the team ratios might need some balancing. Also I don't think night map would work too well since I remember not being able to see anything without night vision when Bi Ming (Night version) was still around. This could be fixed by a) Making it dusk or b) Put lots of lamp posts in the city.

The only problem I see is that this would need 1 or 2 new factions which would require a lot of work. This could probably be solved by just replacing the weapons and vehicles with another faction and using them as a placeholder.

Either way I love the idea.

Sounds like a great idea. The map would have to be night though. That would be the main advantage that the BluFor would have against the OpFor.

Like I was saying before the objective should be for BLUFOR to locate and destroy a cache in something like a warehouse, or even a massive set of caves, in some remote part of the desert or by the ocean, so the insurgents are holed in and outnumber BLUFOR but they have little backup, so they have a spawntime of 60 seconds to start with and it grows larger by 10 seconds or so each time they die with a limit of a 2-3 minute spawn

I don't know, it could be good. I think though that the team numbers would make it unfair to BLUFOR, no matter what toys you give them.

I love the idea and I've been thinking a lot about it, but we run to a problem very quickly. IRL, SF-units are extremely well trained and insurgents are not. In PR, SF doesn't have this advantage, which makes it a lot harder to balance. Maybe night attacks are a great way to balance things a bit.
