Pence's ambush tutorial spellchecked and slightly edited by me.
Good Ambush Sites.
1: Routes regularly used by enemy forces
2: Places were vegetation changes e.g. edge of a forest
3: The approaches to your defensive position (mainly flag points)
Ambushing Infantry Tactics.
1: The use of a support gunner or two in your squad can improve the amount of firepower you can throw at the enemy.
2: Concealment is important, if the enemy sees you, you will have to order an attack without the surprise burst of fire.
3: Try to assign your men to hit one target each, this will mean that in one spray -- the whole enemy squad will be destroyed.
4: Don’t use the same spot for an ambush twice, the enemy have been through that and will look out for every slight movement.
Ambushing Amour Tactics.
1: A minimum of two people are needed for this role, the Anti-tank soldier and a rifleman that can kill the tank crew if they try to escape.
2: The more, the better. More AT weapons at one target will destroy it quicker but don’t use too many otherwise you are just wasting precious ammunition.
3: If you have two vehicles passing your ambush site, let them both pass, then take out the most dangerous vehicle first leaving the area after destroying one target is also good because now your enemy vehicle has his back turned and your allies only need to hit him once in the rear for a quick kill.
4: Anti-Aircraft weapons can be used to great effect against soldiers too and as such, they are valued targets.
After The Ambush.
Because you are playing PR, your enemy may well have informed his whole team about your ambush so don’t stick around because the worst that could happen is the enemy avoiding your squad and thus making you worthless. Most enemies will look to destroy your formation and artillery, tanks or more troops may be a few seconds away.
ANTI-AMBUSH DRILLS
Preparation.
1: Try not to use obvious routs.
2: Listen to people who have spotted amassed squads or have been ambushed before.
3: Try not to bunch up, you may wish to use a distanced Spearhead formation when traveling for all round protection.
4: Keep an eye on every little thing, troops who going into 'iron sight mode' can give away a small form of movement.
5: Grenadiers should keep there grenade launchers equipped.
Once Ambushed -- As foot soldiers.
1: Don’t lie down, move towards the enemy firing.
2: Throw grenades into the ambusher’s position and if possible fire a volley of AT weapons into them. If you have grenade launchers in your squad then loose a volley at the enemy.
Once Ambushed -- As vehicle crew.
1: As usual, don’t rush away front the ambush. Keeping your soldiers alive is the key to success; you will need them to clear the ambush party.
2: Kill any anti-tank soldiers first, don’t let them fire another shot and after that; kill the Light Machine Gun gunners so your soldiers can draw a fair fight against the enemy infantry.
After The Ambush.
Because you are playing PR, your enemy may well have informed his whole team about his failed ambush so don’t stick around, most enemies will look to destroy your formation and artillery, tanks or more troops may be a few seconds away.
