I totally agree with johndoe and six7 about the yellow dot on mounted machineguns. I suggest an iron sight becouse it is realistic and it should work like in all other weapons in the game. All those weapons have iron sights in real life, why use a zooming yellow dot for the game? Same with grenade launchers.

As it is my first post here, let me also say that this mod ROCKS and im enjoying it much more than original BF2.

The devs plan on putting ironsights on the mounted machine guns.

'[R-DEV wrote:Eddie Baker']Tracers will be increased on the minigun, as from what I understand they are the primary (and in some cases only) means of aiming it. According to Noetheinner, a USMC Huey crewchief, it does look like a laser. As for other sighting systems, I have only seen a sight on the Marine GAU-17s:

I have seen a similar, if not identical sight attached to Navy/Marine GAU-16 .50 caliber MGs. Don't think I've seen it fitted to USAF or Army guns, though.

you missed to huge sights poking off the top of the thing.

Ok, since we are all talking about sights and tracers, i have to say this:

I noticed that no matter what weapon you are using, the bullets always go to the center of the screen, even when you arent in "aiming mode" (using ironsights or yellow dots). So i just painted a dot in the center of my monitor and now i aim like i did in QUAKE or COUNTER-STRIKE. It works for all weapons including miniguns, stationary machineguns and AT rockets. For snipers it's only accurate when you're prone. And its very accurate.

Now, how realistic is that?

I noticed today that the tracers on the minigun are definetely up to scratch. OK, maybe not for the shooter, but on the ground you can't miss them. We were playing Muttrah city as MEC and the damn Seahawk was annihilating us. It kept passing, and if you saw the yellow tracer beam of doom you knew your time had come. It's gun just rips through the sand with almost perfect accuracy and takes no prisoners, I'm not sure who was shooting the gun but they must've scored a ton of points.

Yes it kills the game realism, thats why i posted it here, so the devs can figure out a way to avoid players like me (and several others) to do that. Thats kinda cheating and i decided to do that when i realized that in close combat other players were killing me before i could switch to "aiming mode" and fire at them. Aiming mode slows you down a lot and you can see several players beeing too agile in close combat. They must be doing this or something like this.

My suggestion to end this: do like in Operation Flashpoint, where the crosshair moves around the screen, only that this time there would be no crosshair, so it would be impossibe to guess where your weapon is pointing at any given time. Unless you use the ironsight, which is the hole point of realism.

The deviation of no scoping means it isn't really lethal unless the enemy is up close. I only no scope when I'm in proper CQB, getting the sights up is only really useful over distances of 20m, otherwise you end up missing all the guys in your area.

As for red tracers, well yeah, they'd be nice. I wonder how they'd look in game.

Ok. Then how about a big decreasing of accuracy when we arent using the ironsight?

(I keep making suggestions, but the problem is i dont know a thing about programing and doing mods, so i wouldnt know what is possible and whats not. You guys are my heroes!!)

I think a huge recoil spike when no scoping should be brought in. Think about it, when you've not got the gun tight in the firing position looking over the scopes it's going to bounce around a bit more than if you have.

Thats a good idea, but you'd still get that first shoot on the target. Wich in PRM means a lot.

Still, if it can be done in real life it might as well be done in game. In real life it's possible to shoot without looking over your scope, but their are drawbacks such as a lack of knowing where the bullets are heading. If you do it in game you know your bullets are going in the middle, but the deviation spike is enough to turn most people off it and just use the sights.
