Pff.
I couldn't find a name for this topic, but after another night of agony I just had to vent this. I'm not a whinger, nor do I consider this a whinge, just a mere observation.
The reason I stopped playing Vanilla BF2, not just cause of the shyte damage model, is the huge number of nabz and people who have no situational awareness. This results in piss poor teamplay, and for me the gameplay.
When I got PRMM from the first release it was a abrevation. It' was bliss. People knew what they were doing left and right, beying selfless and beying all they can be. I was amazed this was possible. My personal skill is quite high, I've always played in high skill clans, but I'm quite done with all the high level matches and the static training / matches etc. This mod was great. I came into a server and bang it was great realism and great fun.
With the release of later version of the mod, it became less and less. But with .3 this mod, for me, turned into a nab fest. I foremost play as medic, I like helping people and reviving, especialy with the long spawn timers. It feels great!
I revive almost everyone I see, and I take great risks trying to revive people, knowing they have a short timer left. I am skilled in doing this and I hardly die in the process reviving about 70-80% of the people around me.
Now, here is my 'observation'. I can't expect everyone to have the same level of situational awareness, selflessness to help others, but people just don't anymore, but out of 10 deaths I take, I get revived about 1x.
It's just hilarious, and makes me wonder why all those medics running around me withing 25-50 meters can't be arsed to return the favor. Let alone pick up a Medic's kit and try to do what he/she can.
A very dissapointed medic.

welcome to the forums and yeah as they both said, give it.. less then a month maybe? or play on the TC server and you are bound to see some teamwork.
also get in squads with PR or ARRC or EJOD or other clans and you will find teamwork there where the medic will risk his day reviving you =)

I mostly play Medic as well, just seemed to like the role even in vBF2. Or Engineer cuz I do like the vehicles
I can only recommend to find a few good servers that typically have the right kind of players on them .. cuz our plans are to continue to enhance the mod and add features that add new players... who take some time to adjust to PR.
I do understand the frustration heh.... believe me....

Im usually giving support for the medic, when I see the medic go down when he is trying to revive my team mate I make a very basic decision will it help my team to run out and switch kits and try and revive them. Well I have tried to do this most of the time I get it in the mellon. I don't think its good tactics to drop your kit and revive someone. It would be nice if we could have some statistics.

Thanks for the nice posts guys. And as much as you all think im a 'new' player. Just because one doesn't post, it don't mean they don't play
.
I've played this mod since the first release, and if it's up to me I'll be playing this mod for a LONG time to come.
I am considering joining a 'Community' style clan, teamplay. I expect nothing but my best and all, and so do I from others. Anyone know a more then decent clan?

The most satisfying thing about being a medic is when you're revived with another kit. Although it rarely happens, there are some kind folk who do pick up the medi sack and revive you at the cost of their M249 or something. The best way to do it is to get shacked up in a decent squad with a decent squad leader, if the SL is giving orders you know you're in the right place.

amen man, after a while I gave up people picking ym kit up to revive me. Then I played PR and suddenly people were doing it, more than once too so it wans't a fluke lolMalik wrote:The most satisfying thing about being a medic is when you're revived with another kit. Though the last couple of weeks it's slowed down du to the influx of vbf2 players, I only hope it doesn't last. The other night I was chasing down a teammate spamming 'I need a medic quick!' whislt running into more fire, he dies and yells why didn't anyone heal him

You say 0.3 brings in more unskilled players or newbs. Well, as the mod grows in popularity this will continue. For the mod to be a success it needs to keep growing in popularity. The only way more coders and modelers might want to work on it if if a lot of people love it. It also helps motivate the existing dev team already in place. There needs to be a strong community behind a mod for it to work.
I still dont think a PRmm server will EVER be as noobish as a vanilla BF2 server but there will be some less experienced players. If it stays a small, elitest mod that only a select number of people and clans play then it wont get the attention it deserves and needs.
This is why I have been suggesting some changes that will help the game be accepted and liked by more people while still retaining some of the extra realism/balance that makes it cool.

I kinda think it could have adverse effects. If people come in wanting to run n' gun, they will find out real fast that it's not the mod for them, and go back to vanilla or whatever mod of the week there is. If it brings out people that actually care about teamwork, then good. I'm 33 years old, I'd rather use tactics than just run n' gun. Been there, done that.

From what I have seen, it is the pursuit of points that draw the rambos from vBF2. When they learn that they can unlock a weapon, but not use it, they usually fade away. I know there are many folks that like the stats. I could care less about them myself and therefore don't intend on loading ABR. This is the best mod out and the larger community of players will go through a few changes until the new guys learn to appreciate PR for what it was meant to be and the others to get bored with earning points for nothing. The die-hard fans will always be around.
the smoker you drink, the player you get. Cheap, but effective.
