Re: Mine de-activator
Just add a few more combat engineer kits and this won't be a problem anymore.

Re: Mine de-activator
IEDs and LandMines should be removed by 1 thermite grenade it would simply melt the ied /or landmine away.
ATM the landmine is abused by the INS they know it last 20m after death.

Re: Mine de-activator
I still say combat engineers should be the only ones able to destroy mines and gernade traps as they are generally the only ones besides Special Forces type soldiers who have the skills and training to do so.
No average soldier would know or posses the skills to disable a mine or gernade trap. Having any infantry being able to destroy it would leave mines pointless as most of the case infantry stumble upon the mines a lot but leave them because theres nothing they can do about it.

Re: Mine de-activator
i kinda agree with demonic, the engi should be the only one who can remove the explosive stuff=P
i dont think that every solder has the time and money used on him to train him on how to remove explosice ordancince.
having the engi drop c4 on the thing he wants to make dissapear seams the most realisictic to me, other then those robat things they send in to do that in the military.

Re: Mine de-activator
Engineers being the only ones who can disable the mines seems to be the most balanced way of having mines be a valuable asset, still, we only get 1 engineer, maybe increase it to 4 to make them at least more prominent than snipers.
That way, not every squad can have one, but a few of them can, adding a place for an engineer as a tactical kit to have, not only for mine clearance and C4, but also for vehicle repairs and counter-mining.
Maybe the engineer should be able to pick up a set number of mines by disabling them. Just a thought, not gone through it for more than 3 seconds looking for negative aspects of the idea, feel free to do that though.
The mine clearance with C4 is a good idea. IED's.... Not so much.
Doesn't blowing IED's up defeat the whole purpose?
I mean they're ususally placed in locations where they destroy things, bridges etc. and blowing C4 has the same effect, only more effective, and that's clearly not what we wanted to do.
Another thing is that the person who planted the IED is usually looking at it, so if they think you're about to disable it, they're going to detonate it in your face.
What we need is a safe, fast way to disable them, before they have a chance to detonate it, alternatively, some way of jamming the signal so it doesn't detonate when you're disabling it.

Re: Mine de-activator
New kit time? Most useless combat kit ever but can detect mines and destroy them but be more avaiable for BluFor forces. Say no patches, no smoke, no grenades, no shovel, only main weapon with very limited ammo, wrench and say some sort of device that spots. Make it the new kit no one wants to use bit of used right can save your team.

Re: Mine de-activator
The engendering kit is already the only kit to pick up landmines.
Also it does not take any training to disable a landmine / grenade trap throw a grenade at it and run (; fast.
anyways the engineering kit is the most hated and disliked kit because ins need the wreak way more then the coalition need it.
so as far as I am censured any medium to high explosive should take them out.

Re: Mine de-activator
My idea is an own weapon for taking out mines.
Like a small explosive or metal pipe that blows out these sparks.
A grenade is to stupid:
1.Its not made to be used to that.
2.You can risk to hurt yourself on far distance.
Why not C4:
1.To powerfull!
2.It destroys the whole bridge if the mine(IED) is on a bridge.
Why little explosive or metall pipe:
1.Its REAL.(At least more real than the C4 or nade.)
2.It destroys the mine without taking risk about die or blow stuff up.
PS.Its not just positive things with these, the insurgents can also use it as a trap.
Plant Mine.Plant IED close to the mine.Wait for someone to de-activate it.Then blow IED up.

Re: Mine de-activator
They woudnt have used C4 on a mine,C4 is too powerfull to that.
What im asking about is kind of a C4,just not that powerfull or a metall pipe.

Re: Mine de-activator
Heres my suggestions:
1. If you're looking it as an "Engineer Only" feature, then i would say it should stay like the way it is with the wrench
2.However, why not implement the shotgun to do this? shoot and the mine disappear or something..But it will not be realistic, but like the previous post, might as well implement into the Riflemen Specialist than having 4 engineers in a team and end up having C4s all over the place. Maybe it might also increase the usage of Riflemen Specialist in Insurgency maps.
3.What about the usage of incendiary grenades for the removal of mines? it can act as an equipment which penetrates the outer casing and burning the explosive inside without a detonation, that would work.. but on the other hand, you will need the grenade directly above the mine which is always so small...
4.I would say no to the ability to detect mines, if this happens you will see a mine detector walking infront of an APC wherever it goes. If i were the insurgents i might as well use the IED, "Mine Detector: Oh look, its an IED, now what should i do wi...BOOM!" there goes a kit and an APC. And it will probably spoil the game to have the ability to detect mines, it all depends on the eyes of the driver.

But what about the little explosive then?KingLorre wrote:the [insert the name wich i forgot] Torpedo Pipe they used back in ww2 to clear obstacles? but was on future weapons aswell as an updated variant?

That cant be so hard.
C4 is a C4.
Breach Charge looks like a C4 but it is a Breach Charge.
My point is,that its not the same blowing up a mine with C4 or nade like it is with a little explosive only hurting the mine, not you. (Of course it will hurt if you stand right over it)
