not give into the sickening amount of SF Operator proliferation that plagues every single military FPS on the market. Whether asymmetrical combat vs the Taliban or conventional BLUFOR vs OPFOR conflicts, it should be about the front line grunts.

Thankyou for your response.[R-CON]nedlands1 wrote:No kit now unless the decision is made to make an SASR or commando faction.
I was just curious that's all.
I personally see no harm in not having the M4 as it will just make the ADF faction in PR more unique compared to the US Army.

Re: [Weapon] F88 Aus Styer
no. AUG para is the conversion of AUG assault rifle into a SMG. AUG para uses the 9mm ammunition. any AUG can be converted into a para version with a proper kit according to this site - Steyr AUG Para
the version that has been modelled for Australian forces is-as the title says- F88 Aus Styer. according to wikipedia it is used by Australian army source

The australian army bought the AUG styers plans from styer years ago and we have been making our own version namely the F88c/F88s and have been making it here in Australia since.

i take it these are all the versions currently used by the ADF and not the Austeyr F88A4 as it is still to enter service. and for obvious reasons no OAVD on the a aimpoint scope

We're still a LONG way off getting an A4 variant, the A3 is still undergoing prototyping and assessment. The Off Axis Viewing Device is even further away. Not even worth thinking about yet, to be honest.anglomanii wrote:i take it these are all the versions currently used by the ADF and not the Austeyr F88A4 as it is still to enter service. and for obvious reasons no OAVD on the a aimpoint scope

Re: [Weapon] F88 Aus Styer
last i heard was we sent about 25 OAVD's to use on secdet kruger with the guys from 5bat and 2cav, seemed to be working well with the last bunch of returns. only thing they mentioned was it does not auto center the horizon so can be a little disorientating on a quick look.

The new Railed Steyr has been introduced as the A3 to us, no mention of an A4 variant at all. No mention of OAVD's for the next SECDET rotation based around 1 yet either.anglomanii wrote:last i heard was we sent about 25 OAVD's to use on secdet kruger with the guys from 5bat and 2cav, seemed to be working well with the last bunch of returns. only thing they mentioned was it does not auto center the horizon so can be a little disorientating on a quick look.

With LTR, are you talking about the Navy version used to send messenger lines ship-to-ship?

Re: [Weapon] F88 Aus Styer
if the trigger guard is not removable then its a A1/2 if it has rails then its the S variant, the A3 is made by steyr-mannlicher, i think. and LE does not have the actual patent for it. which is why LE is making the A4.'[MPN wrote:Slouch2;1021391']The new Railed Steyr has been introduced as the A3 to us, no mention of an A4 variant at all. the A4 only 12 were given in i think in march for evaluation. it was brought up at last months DSTO brief. also was a query about it in the senate joint committee hearing.
the LTR, well i only heard it was being looked at as a modification for non-linear operations. nothing firm.
and yes i am pretty sure the OAVD's got sent out, and have come back in February.

Re: [Weapon] F88 Aus Styer
Mate you are way off track. If you really were involved with DSTO you would know the A3 doesn't have a removable trigger guard, it was only shown with that in one of the prototype photos, also you would be aware its being developed by ADI in Lithgow not Steyr in Austria.anglomanii wrote:if the trigger guard is not removable then its a A1/2 if it has rails then its the S variant, the A3 is made by steyr-mannlicher, i think. and LE does not have the actual patent for it. which is why LE is making the A4.

Just a few questions though- what abbreviations of "LTR" and "LE" are you using? I think we are thinking of different things.

Re: [Weapon] F88 Aus Styer
i'm sorry, i should clarify my last, i managed to go to the DSTO conferance here in brisbane a while ago, and i got to sit in on some of the display presentations.
( i am NOT a member of DSTO, i do however work for a company that provide certain products and services to DSTO providers)
LE or Light Engineering (a subsection of Thales) was one of the programs open and we had the privilege to sit in on the A4 presintation. when i mentioned the removeable guard i was refering to the A4 not the other variants. if i'm wrong i'm wrong. i am only going on what i have heard and seen.
i am obviously not involved with the ADF as the rest of you are, but i do get to work with some of the people involved in R&D and logistical support and some of that is with our national assets support network. i am trying not to offend people and i apologise if i have, i am simply interested in the subject matter and had a few questions to ask.
LTR was the line throwing rifle. i only heard about it being thought about for "Non-Linear operations" and you guys would definately have more info on that one than I. it was just a question.
you all obviously have a more hands on knowledge of the products we are talking about.
i have only commented on the things i have seen and heard, what i have written is the information i was told about by people i know and have met in my field of work.
