Tracer in Insurgency weapon

Post by Human_001 »

I think Insurgent using tracers is killing how Insurgents should play.

I suggest removing of all Tracer round from Insurgent weapon including 50 cal.

If Insurgent should play like they are intended to be, having tracer forces this faction to play or be spotted like other faction. It should be removed for 'gameplay reason' also.

I agree sort of. I don't really know. I think the idea of removing tracers from the .50 could be alright. For example on Ramiel if you are in the Littlebird and you start getting shot at by a .50 it is almost to easy to track down the technical firing at you and take him out. The game should reward the person in the technical for getting into a good position to fire, and forcing the Littlebird to flee instead of stay and fight. Then again it may make technicals to hard to track down.

tracers arn't something that must be in a weapon, i doubt in a real life situation any combatant would WANT tracers in his/her weapon. so insurgents would most likely not use them.

Yeah tracers are normally used to help indicate where enemy are.

Ask one of the numerous RL combatants here who've been to Iraq - Did the insurgent munititions have tracers much?

I remember watching a video about US Green Berets in Afghanistan. Talking about a fire fight, the convo went something like this.

"I started to return fire, and began taking a lot of returning fire. I was very surprised, since normally the Taliban aren't that accurate, or return fire that fast. I fire a few more shots, than checked my mag. I had loaded mostly with tracers to show the Northern Alliance guys were to fire. Tracers were a bad f***ing idea."

Any way, slightly off topic.

It would make sense to remove tracers from INS. I wouldn't say take the tracers off the .50 how ever the small arm weapons shouldn't have tracers. At least not as many.

Oh talk about a old debate here.

I do not think you can remove tracers for one faction reading up about the ballistics you can have tracers for all guns or none at all and ballistic wont work well with tracers.

I think tracers should be removed for all factions and add in the ballistics !

I could live with that, I generally follow sound rather than tracers anyway. But keep tracers for 50cals and coaxials etc.

Hey your sig is messed up a little.

Anyways I I'm sure that they cant take tracers one type of weapon i think its on or off and tracers mess up ballistics that we really need.

Wrong, tracer rounds can be added or removed for any small-arms weapon in-game.

The problem with implemeting a realistic ballistics system is that the tracers are handled by the game differently, and so would not go where the ball rounds were going - which is why realistic ballistics could be implemented either with all rounds as tracers or with all rounds as ball.

You just couldn't mix 'n match like we have at present - a ratio of ball to tracer.

But we can remove tracers from all the AK-47s, or all the M16s, or whatever.

i thought that in previous versions of PR the insurgents didnt have tracers for their rifles? someone correct me if im wrong. but yes, i agree i think insurgents shouldnt have tracer rounds for AKs and other small arms. it would definitly give them a little bit of an edge in the surprise factor which is one area the insurgents need to excel in to do any good.

However, for larger guns like the DSHKs on the technicals, i think that they should continue to have tracers. one of the main capabilites of these guns is the ability to take out helicopters and other low flying aircraft which is why they are usually loaded with tracers as it helps in leading the enemy chopper and shooting it down. it would be very difficult imo to shoot down choppers without tracers. plus id be quite surprised if real life insurgents didnt at least have tracers in DSHKS.

I know how hard it is going to be to use AA gun without tracers. Maybe its impossible in real life.

But it will be interesting too see.

I have read in Wikipedia or other site (maybe heard it in News) that Insurgents use .50 caliber class machine gun to attack Attack Helicopter and Transport Helicopter if I remember correctly, at low altitude when passing by.

I have used games like CFS 1, 2, and IL-2 Sturmovik. It is Aerial warfare simulator/game. Things they have in common is that when aircraft is shot, they have depiction of fragments of aircraft skin falling off of aircraft. And it's quite alot. Bullet impact on aircraft surface also create sparks.
I don't think these factors are any excuse for not using any tracers. I'm just saying.

To be honest I have almost never seen Iraqi Insurgent Technical. (I think I saw it only once on Internet.) If they have it in real life they should make more appearance on Internet/News etc. Although I have seen homamade rockets and trucks equipped with Mortar instead of .50 caliber in Internet/News etc.

Personally, I doubt they have many Technical with .50 caliber gun. Maybe very rarely.

Littlebird executing otherwise impossible aerial maneuver to attack back at Technical. It is due to aircraft coding not because of tracers. But still interesting to see Technical without Tracer.

This idea has merit. The insurgency main aim is too stay counselled and be stealthy, Failing too do so against the over whelming superiority of Allied Coalition forces is surten death. Removing the tracers from there weapons is definitely some thing the tourists would do if it makes it harder for the Allies pin point where the enemy fire is coming from.

Though it up too the Dev's

i agree too,but the only bad tihng is that, then its even more unfair to be insurgent.
We need to find a cool thing or some that make people wanna be insurgents.

Sorry for going a little off-topic now: Would real Taliban medics have epipen? Maybe finding out new healing system for them.

Do they really have a choice, their weapons are old russian equipment. I don't think anyone is under the impression that the insurgents make their own rounds.

If there was one weapon in the game that should have the tracers removed, it would be the sniper rifles, and possibly designated marksmen.

im almost certain sniper and marksmen rifles dont have tracers.

as for the person who said they havent seen any videos of insurgent technicals in iraq, i have seen quite a few. i remember one in particular they put a ZSU cannon {which is a huge double barrel anti aircraft gun that i think fires 20mm rounds} on the back of a mitusbishi fuso flatbed and hid it between 2 houses and ambushed a convoy of humvees that were passing by. so id say they definitly use technicals even though we really cant base much on what we know about the insurgents from videos there is alot we dont see they are a pretty shady organization.
