[Insurgency] Ideas for the sapper

Hi,

Two ideas that may get people to use more the IEDs and prepare ambushs:

- Give the sapper a grapplin hook. That way, he well be able to set IEDs and then keep an eye on it without being too exposed. This would force the US team to be more careful, most known IED spots are ... well known and avoided anyway.

- Is is possible to throw the IED like a grenade ? It's about the same weight and that way, IEDs could be placed without being exposed. Of course, like C4, there would be a 5 second waiting time between the deploying / throwing and the explosion.

Civs have the hooks. Fix the civ respawn times, there'll be more civs, problem solved. And tossing a delicately wired piece of improvised electronics around, especially when it is connected to high explosives, is probably a very bad idea.

Throwing IEDs around like nades would be spam-a-lot.

Im definitly against the throwing idea, but the grapple sounds fine to me.

Specialist has it and isnt an IED placer a specialist in some way?

I also think it would be fine to keep it with the civie, as long as civie spawn is fixed.

Its just ridiculous, you get more spawn time then the guy who actually shot your innocent ***. lol. And its not like Civies can do much damage. 1 strike every 30 mins per team, after that its rocks and running away all the time.

You can get shot if you medic.

You can get shot if you ladder.

You can get shot if you cellphone.

I think it would be fair enough to shorten spawn time. Would get more medic for insurgents (how unreal is that, a resistance able to fight the biggest army in the world, with no medics or band-aids? SURE) and more civies for realistic feel/manifestations, regroupements, etc..

ye agree with the IED thing, its like BF2 1.1 or something.. people trowing them as nades and wtf prwning the enemies.. kind of anoying..

the grapple hook.. is a MUST ..

IED team's in PR mostly split up.. (depends which servers) and I find it hard to find a good hiding spot..

I'd rather not give grapples to anyone besides civvies. Right now, when you play civvie, you can be useful in two ways. Give grappling hooks to another class, and all the civvie will get to do is dodge bullets as he tries to heal and revive people, with the danger of ridiculously long spawntime looming over his head at all time

Ok, no throwing IEDs. I expected such reactions ^^

But giving the gapple to sappers makes sense to me, as insurgents are in THEIR city which they know by heart and hence they should be able to hide almost anywhere. If you're bound to use a civi (which no one plays anyway...), no one will do that extra effort. I am, of course, speaking about public games

In all those years of PR.. i have not seen a lot of civies.. i mean.. maybe like.. 7..

I agree Sappers should have grappling hooks, but should be able to throw IEDs....for obvious reasons.
Currently Finishing off a PR Training Map with Pte.Paynter. Also Trying to Organise a Late Cold War Community Minimod.

oops, that was an epic mistake, Omg i meant to say shouldnt, i guess i gotta take more time typing it out. I agree with the grappling hook, but NOT with the throwing IEDs.

A pair of Sappers waits in a bush at the side of the road..
Sapper X: *Looks at imaginary watch* hmm the apcs should be coming out by now...
Sapper Y: *Looks through his binos* hey wait, i see something...its an APC!
Sapper X: Alright, time to take out my super duper IED!
APC drives by, Sapper X throws the IED on the APC, holding the phone in his hands while Sapper Y waits for the infantry to alight.
Sapper Y: Hey its stopping, get ready for detonation
Sapper X: Roger that, *dials in number*
Sapper Y: Alright....NOW!
Sapper X detonates the IED sticking on the back of the APC, blowing up the apc and shooting bodies in all direction :D

They switch roles to get another apc...speaking of the power of VOIP...and the power of throwable IEDs!

EPIC it would make my IED rape squads on Chicago Insurgency even more fun :razz:

Get a Unarmed Insurgent to get you a on the roof.

No the Idea is that you lay the ied down and wait and wait and wait for a coalition target to get with in range.

Not running up to the apc chunk the ied like a grenade and blow it up, this is just not what is wanted---

Because it would be used vs inf just like C4 clunking that was removed I still feel the unarmed Insurgent should get the Ied and be able to be shot once the ied is laid tell 1m after its gone.
