If it is removed it will probably remain an unused vehicle (like the T-52 and Saxon), until an appropriate faction is released.

The huey does that though, even if it is bigger than the LB. I bet if the LB was taken out you wouldn't miss it. I wouldn't mind missing the guys that think they are stunt pilots with them, especially when my squad is on board.Colt556 wrote:I must say, there comes a time where gameplay must trump realism. Sure the LB isn't entirely realistic, but it's good for gameplay. The mod focuses too much on big heavy transport helos, and considering the limited players in a server, and the fact that only 8 people can ride in a helo, putting in a helo that can carry 30 people is a bit excessive. We need more small transport helos, that transport one single squad. That's why I love the LB, small, quick and agile, and has 6 seats so it's perfect for a squad to use. We need more helis like that, even if they aren't entirely realistic.
As for the V-22 and larger transports, there are plenty of places to land them, even on maps like muttrah. No you won't be able to insert on the top of the hotel, but really that would be a bad idea anyway. I think if you see the Merlin and (hopefully) in the future the Chinook, that a bigger helicopter doesn't mean you cant get where you need to go.
With the bigger helicopters there is also the added realism that it could actually carry those supply crates. I'm still wondering where the belly straps are for the crate the hueys carry.

I think a Kiowa should replace the little bird by far, and just live without a light transport. A Black Hawk would do fine, and none of the other factions have a little light transport... they get along...

The LB is pretty annoying though, you can't fit a whole squad in one, and on muttrah they just get people killed

Kiowa should defiantly replace the AH-6. The LB is very annoying when you get the stunt pilots ( won't mention any names like mavrick1337) who think they can do a back flip off the carrier.

Here's some more for you:7g23 wrote:The only cons I've heard about the littlebird so far are about the pilots, which i agree with.
- It's not used IRL by the forces portrayed in PR, hence unrealistic.
- It carries only 6 including the pilot.
- It's weak compared to other choppers.
Regardless of how nice it is to fly or how easy it is to land in tight places, it's not used in real life by regular US Army pilots or at all in the USMC.
As Project Reality's assets are based on real life, the little bird is an exception to the rule.
If some assets get to stay just because they're cool, then why only the little bird?
I'm not much of a fan of the black hawk myself but it does the job of a transport helicopter and with a bit of practice it can drop troops wherever it really needs to. Nothing wrong with the huey's transport ability either IMO.

Littlebird is a metal cage of death only used by stupid *** snipers and stunt pilots who think they're 1337, it should be allowed to die.

Little bird is a lot more survivable than the Huey. Ability to turn at high speeds has saved me lots of times.

Re: What will eventually replace the Little Bird?
Wait, littlebird is a real life helicopter right? It is actually used by the SOAR right?
So whats the problem?
"LB are available for this map as the SOAR are providing light lift support for army troops".
Do people really hate the LB that much?
I mean there are bradleys on fallujah that are supposed to be there as support from a different unit.
Is it because its an air vehicle?

I think LB's are going to be removed in 0.86 (atleast in Muttrah).
I hope I'm wrong, though

I wouldn't go that far but i agree with you. The little bird should be removed, it's extremely easy to shoot down, isn't even that fast, and flips very easily. I think the dev should phase it our or improve it.Jedimushroom wrote:Littlebird is a metal cage of death only used by stupid *** snipers and stunt pilots who think they're 1337, it should be allowed to die.

Re: What will eventually replace the Little Bird?
I have never seen a littlebird used for a teamwork oriented and tactical use in any map where alternative helicopters are available. Small size is overruled by crappy stability for rooftop landings, high maneuverability is overruled by terrible protective qualities and the fact that it can't even carry a full squad.
It serves no useful purpose that could not be equally well or better served by a more conventional transport helicopter and I think it should be removed.

Wut? I sure have.Jedimushroom wrote:I have never seen a littlebird used for a teamwork oriented and tactical use
Teamwork can´t be the excuse for everything.
I don´t like the squad leader coloured smoke, its not teamwork orientated etc...

Re: What will eventually replace the Little Bird?
To clarify, by that I mean that I've only ever used it to transport lone wolfs and do stupid 1337 insertions that inevitably end in failure. It cannot be used as an effective squad transport, and this is its designated function, it is therefore pointless.
