Re: What will eventually replace the Little Bird?
I have used it many times in that role.
In fact, its awesome when you have a squad of 6 with 1 pilot and 5 men.
But it means the LBs work together to transport the squad, or return and pick up the one left behind with more people.

Because SOAR aren't Marines nor are they regular Army.Alex6714 wrote:Wait, littlebird is a real life helicopter right? It is actually used by the SOAR right?
So whats the problem?
Wheres that from? I'm guessing Ramiel.Alex6714 wrote:"LB are available for this map as the SOAR are providing light lift support for army troops".
If Ramiel is supposed to be a special forces operation then fair enough, but then it should have more special forces assets.
True but the different units are still regular.Alex6714 wrote:I mean there are bradleys on fallujah that are supposed to be there as support from a different unit.
I'm cool with that, but i'd still rather a chopper that carries 8 and drops supplies.Alex6714 wrote:In fact, its awesome when you have a squad of 6 with 1 pilot and 5 men.

Silly character limit.Snazz wrote:Because SOAR aren't Marines nor are they regular Army.
Look at the point of mine you quoted below.

You know what ramiel is based on?

Whats regular? Anything non air related?

Re: What will eventually replace the Little Bird?
Apparently Ramiel is based on the battle of Mogadishu, which involved Rangers and Delta Force not regular Army.
The Battle of Mogadishu was a special operation to "capture tier one personalities of the Habr Gidr clan", not patrol an area searching for weapon caches.
If Ramiel is meant to be a special forces mission like it's loosely based on, it should have special forces on it. Not just a lone SOAR attack little bird (a role that could be filled by the Kiowa in future).
I don't know what Qwai is based on but the rest of the assets on the map are regular Army, Muttrah is far fetched because not only are SOAR supposedly taking part in an expeditionary marine operation they're also operating little birds from an amphibious assault ship that IRL carries it's own wing of marine aircraft.
The blackhawk with miniguns is a SOAR thing too which is apparently being changed in future.
My point has nothing to do with it being an aircraft.

Non special forces. What the dev team are aiming to represent.Alex6714 wrote:Whats regular? Anything non air related?

Re: What will eventually replace the Little Bird?
Well I don't see why another seat can't be added....
Like the guy above me said, you can always come back for the last guy. The LB is a wonderful, fun aircraft, when used correctly you can put A LOT of hurt on your enemy. However the fact remains, the LB is only used in the Special Forces, giving the LB to the Marines and the Army is unrealistic. The main focus of PR is realism. I feel stupid riding in an LB on Muttrah and Qwai sometimes. To be honest I don't even see why a map like Muttrah needs an LB, not to mention most people think of the LB on Muttrah as expendable
Guys don't worry about it, the devs will work it out and PR will keep getting more wonderful aircraft. So what if the LB is removed, we will get better aircraft to replace it
I trust the dev team will make the right decision.

Re: What will eventually replace the Little Bird?
The main focus of PR is creating something great out of Battlefield2. Which they've achieved, everything now is just icing on the cake.
Answer me this, if a regular US Marine unit was invading a coastal city, and felt the need for some transport littlebirds, could they make it happen? Could they call up the special forces or whoever currently has those in stock and ask for some assistance?
Realism is great, but there is a point where people need to let these little things go. We're working with an existing game engine. Multiple branches of the military work together, but that's impossible to properly emulate in this game engine.

That should pretty much sum up the thread, 100% agreedbadmojo420 wrote:The main focus of PR is creating something great out of Battlefield2. Which they've achieved, everything now is just icing on the cake.

Anyways I dislike LBs, I'd rather have a BH with miniguns, which can carry more troops and can take fire for longer. The LB takes more damage and the controls are more sensitive (I find).

Isnt the LB in PR actually outdated its self? Im sure the no rotor one is used now. Though correct me i may be wrong.

I think a Littlebird or indeed any helicopter with no rotor blades would be thoroughly ineffective. I mean admittedly it would save weight, but it would drastically reduce thrust capacity and stability.Cheditor wrote:Isnt the LB in PR actually outdated its self? Re: What will eventually replace the Little Bird?
It does not matter if LBs are SOAR only because even if they are It doesn't mean they can't be called in to support a type of assault done by a regular army division. If that's the way it is Artillery should operate alone as should armor but they are all backed up by different forces now are they?

Re: What will eventually replace the Little Bird?
I think it should be used in some special occasions where it could make sense, like the special forces/city scenarios described before, but I think the huey would be better. It can carry more people and can take more damage.
