Whens the last time there was a conventional war? Its probably Liberation of Kuwait, but even that wasn't much of a conventional war. ( Iraq 2003 was more of an insurgency )

Besides alot of it comes down to what mappers make. We don't get ordered what to do, and Im sure if you make a 4km conventional map to the right standard, the DEVs will put it in the mod.

-However, around 4/5ths of matches played are AAS and the maps should mirror that. And people aren't going to play insurgents more just because "that's the type of "wars" that are going on in the world nowadays."

-As for mapping; I've tried, but my PC has a severe disliking of the editor and other assorted requirements.

Start work for PR and you might get more say in what goes on[Im trying to say this nicely, trust me] If everything were done by public poll I think PRs evolution would go ten times slower than it has. SL spawn, RPs, minimap, QPC spawn etc. All of that met great disapproval at one point or another by players... I think it takes the dictatorial DEV team to get these ideas pushed forwards quickly without all the democratic talks ;)

Of course Military Advisors play a role in decisions, but some changes are just made to push PR in the direction the DEV team wants it to go.

I agree with what you quoted in that Qwai wasnt broken... but at the same time, that doesnt mean theres more than one good way to play it. Dont look at it as "fixing" issues but rather pushing the game in the direction the DEVs want it pushed ;)

That being said, we havent played it yet[you and I] so lets keep our opinions about how its"ruining" the map or whatever to ourselves til we've played it as much as the tester team :P

I, for one, and sort of glad for the reduced assets. I really, really enjoy the Infantry side of PR more than anything. PR has totally revolutionised that side of gameplay and that is what really separates it from vBF2.

Plus, it gives people one less reason to complain when noobs crash an asset, or single man it, or get it stuck in a ditch, etc etc.

So you don't want CAS and attack helis on the same layer just because it attracts a few more tards in overall?
You could say the same about Muttrah where tards want to fly both attack and transport helis since both types are on the same layer.

If anything Qinling is way better when it comes to attack helicopters than Kashan as the jets force the helis to fly low and do attack runs instead of hovering whereas on Kashan they just sit 900m up in the air like some pwngod and the only thing that can kill them is another chopper that's flying even higher.

The DEV's have my full trust, if the community would decide more it would be a complete pile of ****. I mean 95% of the suggestions suggested by forum members are utter nonsense.

And I also fully support less assets.

I would like to see more maps like Al Kufrah Oilfields- IFV's and infantry.

And bigger Muttrah would be awesome, with BMP-3 and Cobra! PEW PEW!

Someone said the flag placement was too random and one team could get a huge advantage. Im not sure but it could be it. Kashan is atleast very fair and even. In my games on Qinling one side has always totally dominated the other.

Edit: And kashan has the bunker area where infantry is necessary so everyone gets satisfied.

You fellas havn't lived until you've played Barracuda on 16p layer, or, as we on bigD like to call it...D-DAY!!!!!

I havn't had so much fun in PR in a long time, it really is fantastic landing all your team on the beaches of Barracuda, with nothing but boats, met by automatic gunfire and taking cover behind the tank traps. The DEV's put these fantastic layers into PR and nobody uses them. I for one also reckon that Ejod 16p (infantry) is one of if not the best map in PR currently. Full fledged infantry combat across the trenches and intense urban combat seriously re-kindles my love for Project Reality. Maybe you guys should consider a side of PR that doesn't revolve around pilots and tanks.

Yes, that could be one of the reasons. while I still find the map very enjoyable, I do miss the intense battles for objectives village and mine. One major downside of the map was that a huge part of it was not used as a conflict zone.

And you fellas have obviously not played a proper round of a 64 layer.

Some people like to be commanders, some people like to be infantry, so people like to play vehicles.

Tbh, the one where they all come together is the best, anything else is boring imo.


All I hear about is infantry this infantry that infantry is the core you ahould only care about infantry etc.

No, nothing is the core, everything has its place and when you remove one it isn´t as good.

you just described infantry on public servers before mumble arrived.

Seriously, I don't like less assets on layers of maps.

what is one of PRs weaknesses atm? Lack of maps. (yes we know alot are on the way, but they aren't here)

How can we make it seem like there are more maps or at least move variety?

Layers, kashan is a good example. 16, 32, 64, but it could go even further if you ask me, e.g. there could be a pure jeep layer as well :D

So, lets have the tanks, helis, jets, nukes and al gores cuz with layers, the variations can be so much more!

24/7 tank map server
24/7 infantry map server
24/7 helicopter map server
Mixed server
etc

why not...everyone is happy, everyone has a home.
