FINAL STEP AWAY FROM VANILLA?
Ladies and Gentlemen!
I suggest we take the final step away from vanilla by removing REVIVE!
Seriously it is called REALITY MOD, but when it comes to revive, it is just the same as in vanilla.
You cannot revive soldiers in a battlefield and put them straight into the fight again COME ON! All of you know that.
I am tired of having to guard the enemies I put 10 pullets into because the VERY likely conveniance of a medic coming and reviving him...
Leave it to the bleeding, that will keep the combat medics with a purpose in the game.
I REALLY LOVE THIS GAME, but having to guard enemies you fill with lead is not the proudest part...
This way you can still take a shot in the leg/limbs and keep fighting (even though you probably would be evacuated IRL)
What do you say? Time to take the final step away from Vanilla?

Resuggestion and already being worked on extensively.
Read the 0.86 changelog for more details.
Specifically this bit:
Read the 0.86 changelog for more details.
Specifically this bit:
- added new medic system, after being revived player has a 60s timer, if shot again within this 60s timer, player is killed instead of critically wounded.
- increased wounded time to 5 min.
- changed Combat Medic to now be a limited kit.

"I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end... "

HELL YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bandages are fine so give combat medic a bunch. Revive and healing bags are just...ugh. But again, Project Reality has turned into more of Project Gameplay/Teamwork.
I realize that this is still a video game and the revive is very necessary, but how about an option for servers to choose?

I don't see any revive magic things in this mod. I see a corpsman healing a critically wounded soldier.
The black screen mean your knocked out.

Oh yea because every time people get shot or blown up, they get knocked out. Why do we even need hospitals anymore. Doctors are a waste because all we need are corpsmans with an epipen to revive everyone who's got a hole in the head.Howitzer wrote:I don't see any revive magic things in this mod. No, because there are less medics around (only 1 medic max per squad, so max 9 on the field at any one time) and if your target is still revived then just shoot him again within a minute and hes down for good.Viper.Sw wrote:GREAT !!! so now I have to guard the ENEMY FOR 5 MINUTES INSTEAD WOHOOOO!

Wait until you play it and you will see how much better it is.
The corpsman is not realistic. Thats a fact. The revive system is not realistic. Simple fact. It is a simulation of the process of returning a soldier to the frontline/replacing downed soldier with reinforcements.CanuckCommander wrote:Oh yea because every time people get shot or blown up, they get knocked out. Read my first post, I understand all of that. I understand that this is still a video game. But a compromise or alternative is needed for people who want Realism>Gameplay.jigsaw-uk wrote:No, because there are less medics around (only 1 medic max per squad) and if your target is still revived then just shoot him again within a minute and hes down for good.

Re: FINAL STEP AWAY FROM VANILLA?
Exactly , theres a lot of simulated realistic fact in PR , straight line trajectories to simulate fire control or sight ajustement, warm up for gunner position for simulating the actual turret activation , sitting in there and all...jigsaw-uk wrote: The corpsman is not realistic. Re: FINAL STEP AWAY FROM VANILLA?
The maps are small enough to get it to look like lots of reinforcement and big armies fighting, this is what the RALLY POINTS and FOPs do, that is their purpose. Medic reviving is not needed, there is no reason to be able to get reinforcement "spawning" in the front by reviving...jigsaw-uk wrote:No, because there are less medics around (only 1 medic max per squad, so max 9 on the field at any one time) and if your target is still revived then just shoot him again within a minute and hes down for good.

Re: FINAL STEP AWAY FROM VANILLA?
From my point of view this is the best compromise that PR can offer given the limits of the BF2 engine. In 0.86 believe me you will see a lot more people going down and staying down.CanuckCommander wrote:Read my first post, I understand all of that. I understand that this is still a video game. That is exactly what rally points do, you think they are realistic? Again, it is a simulation within the game environment.Viper.Sw wrote:The maps are small enough to get it to look like lots of reinforcement and big armies fighting, this is what the RALLY POINTS and FOPs do, that is their purpose. We dont need both rally points and reviving now, do we?jigsaw-uk wrote:From my point of view this is the best compromise that PR can offer given the limits of the BF2 engine. In 0.86 believe me you will see a lot more people going down and staying down.

I think the reviving is the most unrealistic part of this game, because in every game you will have to spawn somewhere, that does NOT mean that you must be able to revive people. Come on! What bad would it be to leave the reviving to vanilla?

Yes, let's make all deaths permanent. IE you're globally banned from all servers as soon as you die and have to find a completely different game...Viper.Sw wrote: I think the reviving is the most unrealistic part of this game,
The medic system's being addressed already in the patch, this has been discussed to death. Eitherway, be careful what you wish for, you might just get it...

It is a game so therefore you must spawn to play it... But what is the reason for the magic reviving? In what way does it contribute to PR, remove it for one patch and u will see the game will be better. When your shot/dead and respawn you are simulating a new soldier, thats what the tickets are for.
I think it is worth a try to remove vanilla revive! If you have a good reason why not to remove REVIVE when you might just as well use the games spawnpoints please post it, but stick to the topic.

Re: FINAL STEP AWAY FROM VANILLA?
wouldnt work imo
would lose a massive playerbase. and i mean a percentage like 60% of players would stop playing within the first week of change. you could get a million PR players, and 600,000 of them would quit. well, thats my opinion, and yea its ballpark.

Re: FINAL STEP AWAY FROM VANILLA?
Revive is not going anywhere. Its not realistic, but its commonly thought amongst most DEVs that it gives more teamplay and rewards teamplay more than it detracts from it. Its realistic only to certain extents.
The new revive system in which a revived soldier has the 60 timer, within which he would become KILLED if shot, which will now greatly change this system.
But in short, we know its not realistic, its been said countless times so far about how we KNOW this. But its not going anywhere as we feel, as said above, it gives more to the MOD than it takes away in terms of a certain 'realism'[teamwork]
Locked, because we havent released the update yet so no one can complain because they havent played it yet...
