Servers kicking high pings

Post by rbuchner »

Hi,
First of all, Id like to say this is a great mod, so I downloaded it, installed it, etc,etc... But Im having a hard time trying to play it.

I am in Brazil, so my ping is obviouslly higher that anyone closer to most servers available (US or Europe). In brazil we have a single server for PR (empty most of time).

I found myself being kicked by punkbuster due high pings (admins desision) in most servers. Just a few allowed me to play with no major issues at all.

Here is my question:

Since a mod needs all the support that it can get to keep growing, why the admins decided to block so many players from their servers?

IMHO, the mods growth might get blocked by boundaries (since people farther away from the servers wont be able to enter in most of these servers, so they will give up on playing this mod, and will not tell friends to be a part of this community too, etc...)

I know the server belongs to who pays for it, and I respect that.

But maybe if people could wellcome us the "PR foreigners" maybe the mod will be spreaded out on all continents, and very soon the local servers (local for me) will come up, like AA and BF2 servers, which are very common in south america already...

Maybe the admins which are reading this message could think about it and make their servers a little more "high ping friendly"....

Thanks for reading.

What's your ping to GloryHoundz? I have not as of yet kicked people for high pings.

I think I've seen a few players from Brazil, though, so perhaps if you hang out in the Brazilian server, you might get a game going. It might also help if you start a thread in the forum for Brazilian players and try to agree on times when you all get together on the Brazilian server.

Well my understanding of the netcode is that your high pings don't effect my connectin at all. The server drops the packets and you effect freeze and warp around the map as your client regains sync with the server.

WOLFServers.com doesn't kick for high pings.

Now with that said, something might be done if half the team is that way as you aren't really helping your team by time travelling around the map.

We have only filled up a few times so far so it hasn't ever been an issue as of yet.

Regardless, you are welcome to play on WOLFServers.com PRMM/ABR and won't get kicked for a high ping (within reasonable limits of course.)

Thanks for answering me...

Your server is some of the few that allows me to play, and I've been there most of my "PR time".

I agree with you, but brazilian PR community is still very small (unable to half-fill a server).

If you never saw me on your server, you will, my nick is ricardobuchner (its not actuallly a nick, thats my name)

Best regards.

Thanks for inviting me in.

On my very limitied understandind of it, thats what I always believed (my ping doesnt affect other players)

Punkbuster always give me a message after kicking me, which is that I was kicked due high pings (admins decision) - ping higher than 220 (or close to it, cant remember the exact number...)

I will visit your server whenever online...
