pr turning into vanilla

Post by lmisbah1234 »

hi everyone i have noticed recently last 2 weeks on the server i usually play on which i wont name that it is starting to feel like vanilla again, i mean i joined a squad other day and asked squad leader 'what is the plan sl' reply 'do whatever you want' ive seen lone wolfing more than ever soloing assets, bunny hopping, and many more bad habits of vanilla it doesnt feel like a team game any more i even found my self straying alone as no sl orders and no free spaces in other squads and also all squad slots have been reached has anyone else been experiancing the same problem?

I recommend that you start playing on other servers that doesn't allow stuff like that to happen. T&T and ukwarfare have many active admins playing and they are often very strict.

after my experience it is really about the time you play.

Playing in the evening most times is better than during the day...

Also when you see such happenings:

Open a squad and be a SL. I am sure you will find good people if you create a squad with voip or teamwork or something.
If not just kick them out of your squad... then at least YOU can chose who to play with in your squad :)

Dont be shy to be SL, on most maps it is not as difficult as people think ;)

yeah true i mean im ok sl but rather not coz i dont want to worry about 100 thingas at once lol but yeah i think you are right i have noticed this more during the mornings and afternoons not so much during the evenings or night time maybe due to the kids going to sleep? bedtime perhaps lol but seriously i have to adapt to start playing during the good times lol

True, there has been a slight influx of people doing all within their power to not play the mod how it was intended (i.e. vanilla noobs), but honestly, I haven't seen too much of a change. I've been playing since .4 or so, and even back then, it wasn't entirely uncommon to join a squad that had no cohesion at all.

Another example; a friend and I use Mumble, and many times instead of leading a whole squad, we like to do 2-man recon for our team (by recon, I mean actual recon) and stealthy surgical strikes. Or we'll pilot a tank/apc in a seperate squad because we don't like all the radio chatter at the same time. A lot of servers don't let you lock your squads. If somebody joins, we usually say over the BF2 radio "Hey, we're just a two man squad, we're not really going to squad lead, so you might want to join a different squad, but hey, do whatever you want."

But if you have problems with squad cohesion, the best way to remedy that is to lead a squad yourself! I don't really enjoy being SL myself, but I usually end up being one anyways. You just gotta clench your cheeks and take it.

"lone wolfing more than ever soloing assets, bunny hopping, and many more bad habits of vanilla", 99% of servers don't tolerate this, reporting it to the server admin's will generally get it sorted out.

I laugh at nilla nubs. They just try to noob around, get owned and owned.

The best thing to do is call them on it, and start leading your own squad.

Haha totally! I know some people wont of approve of this, but if I am running a squad that is working well together and a nilla noob joins in and refuses to work with us, I just get my squad to use him as target practice. > :X

about 2 - 5% of players have leadership qualities. theres about 15% of players who are self centered, although i have seen that number fluctuate a lot in the last year. the rest like to help or be part of a plan.

you must learn like i am trying to do...to forgive the new players who arnt used to communicating verbally, if PR is for them they will try soon enough. it doesnt take long for a person to recognise the quality of the game plus a microphone. just realise that its an alien concept to a lot of people. for a great many gamers, computer gaming is a very self centered hobby, and "working" in a game after you have come home from work itself...can be a difficult mental mile stone for some.

But i have to say, and its a grim thing to say so dont get depressed. but if BF2 PR has two years left in it i would be happy, but whatever short remainder of time PR has there will always be newbies that join the ranks(or not join should i say) and we are all going to have to get used to it. measures are being taken to stop 5KR1P7 K1DD13Z with the new patch, and server admins who seem to have been in the console since the triassic period, on some servers do a really good job. and on the lazy servers they dont.

as a gamer its up to you to do 3 things...

1 - Find a good server and favor it
2 - Join a squad that is being productive and help out
3 - Work you way through the game and the manuel until you are able to function a squad productivly.

You sir are the root of the problem. Thanks for letting everyone know why new players feel not wanted.

So it's not so much that PR is turning into vanilla as it is there are a lot of vanilla players playing PR? Bring it to the attention of the server admins or play on another server, I have not had these issues on the servers I've played on.

You have a simple choice, teach them or kick them from the squad. Plenty of "Fresh off the vanilla boat" player that just need a kick in the ***.

Yeppers, Lt Dan recommends pointing greenhorns at https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f138-i ... nning.html

It's simple, straightforward, and doesn't get bogged down in irrelevant details.

Last weekend I had a few fresh from Nilla guys in my squad. They were all from the same clan and all decided to try out pr. I did a mic check, and kicked a dude. They had all responded. I started explaining the plan of attack for that round. One of them piped up and mentioned that non of them had any PR experience.

Now for me as an SL, this added a bit of pressure. I wanted to give them a glimpse of PR teamwork and what makes this mod barnon. So I did my very best as squad lead. We did extremely well that round. It was 7 Gates, probably one of the hardest fought rounds I've ever played on that map. The noobs pulled through. At the end of the round they were all clamoring over VOIP how this was the most intense gameplay they ever been in.

Next round the second I got my squad up, same four nilla nubs hopped right in. Another guy joined in, one of my ingame pals. We tore Sunset city a new hole. Second round out we topped the scores. Beating out another group that shall not be named, that always groups together.

I think the real trick to getting people into PR is to lead them, show them how insanely awesome this mod can be. Once you give them a taste of solid PR teamwork, it's like cocaine. They can't get enough :D

I haven't actually seen growing numbers in lonewolfing, wasting assets than there is normally going on. Instead, the hacker-kids are destroying games too often. CTD's, crashed servers and the newest trend seems to be using mortars every 5 minutes to destroy own caches.

Yeah, the hackers are an issue....but I don't think the mods like us talking about them here.... How ever it does boggle me why they would waste their time harassing a mod like PR.....I mean....you can't really have fun in PR alone. I guess they are just trying to torment us...w/e floats their boats....

Again, we are talking about noobs...not hackers...hackers are....well....rubbish.

Noobs...are....well....noobs..they aren't out to ruin gameplay. They are just noobs.

Now some times we have trouble with Nilla @sshats, those aren't noobs..just F***ers.

I guess the real question would be. "Are we getting more vBF2 @sshats in PR?" vs "We are getting more nilla noobs in PR"

On a side note, remember that guy? The one who did all the TKing, can't remember what his name was. Something like raged you or the like. He made all these videos of joining squads and TKing/being a pain. When I think of people who hack to CTD server and do retarded things like that. That's the guy who comes to mind.
