Question About Mumble

Post by Denisb »

Please move if it is in wrong placed.

Ok so i have this question. What if somebody joins on mumble on somebodys server while we are playing. So maybe we others are on one TEAM only ( E.g Russian ) and a player from the opposite team joins and listens what we are saying. Is that possible ?

-Well, if there's any traffic on mumble you'll most likely have several people talking all at once and it'll be impossible to hear what anyone's saying. Additionally, the way mumble works means that the conversations are very situational and localized and so you'd have to be there to know what is going on. Organization and stuff like that mostly takes place on in-game VOIP.

love ur avatar btw mate :)

if the enemy is in ur SL channel, they will hear the squad leader's Radio coms. as an admin I would kick from both the Game server and mumble for such ungentlemanly conduct.

if the enemy is in the main mumble channel for the server and they are ingame with mumble working correctly they will hear what you say on mumble regardless of team if you are within around 70m with increasing volume as you get closer. There is no 'whisper' function yet in mumble, so vBF2 voip is used to move silently when inter squad coms are not needed. (this isn't an exploit chaps until mumble can fulfil its full potential)

if the enemy is either loading in game, out of game, or hasn't got positional audio set up right, he will hear every single thing spoken using normal push to talk. This could present a problem, however when there are many mumblers on this creates alot of traffic as Tartan said, and therefore no vital secrets are lost :)

half the time all they will hear are some bored defenders singing to eachother.

"Dont worry about a thing,
cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin: dont worry about a thing,
cause every little thing gonna be all right!"
