About APC's and M1A2 & general tank abilities.

Post by Thy-Tormentor »

So, as the title tells, this is about making APC's more realistic, so that's basically adding AP and HE ammunition, as well as the missing 7.62 for LAV-25. I'd like to see this addressed asap, thank you.

Another suggestiong goes for the Abrams, and it's basically this: http://www4.army.mil/ocpa/uploads/large/OCPA-2005-03-09-165522.jpg

This is called Urban Survival Kit, so obviosly tanks would look like this in urban maps.
But, do marines use these? If no, then nevermind.

Also, for how long should a tank be able to travel underwater? That would sure add more feel of realism, and fun in maps like shongua stalemate, or some other with lots of watery areas around. In current version, you can go under a river, but's that's very unhealthy though... If they really can go underwater for some time, please make them able to, if possible, of course. Thank you for reading.

I agree the LAV-25 should have the coax-mounted machine-gun operational.

And the Urban survival kit has made me lagh, plus most tank crew's rip the phone off of the rear of the tank.

Why would they do this, all the equiptment on it, seemed like an excellent idea. I would have thought the phone would have come in use at times.

Not if you want to keep your leg's.

Haveing to move your tank quickly is a reality and working with tanks sometimes calls for you to be close to the tanks. If a tank quicly went into reverse when the field phone was in use then the user will be crushed and you might think "You can just run out of the way" -- Well no, tanks reversing from an incomeing missile are fast and so sudden.

Edit: Battlefield noise can make you even more unaware of tank movement.

I have been told some nasty accidents in training from this.

Reversing is a commonly used tactic but not really in urban environments besides its pretty much impossible to dodge missiles and projectiles in CQC.

The thing id be more worried about if i were to use a phone in the rear of an abrams would be the intense heat coming from the rear exhaust.
agreed, and i am curious about the reactive armour tiles, i have to assume it is a non explosive reactive armour tiles since i don't think abrams would operate in urban combat with no infantry support.

We already have ammunition switching available and we will also be coding the coaxial M240C for the LAV-25. :)

lol I thought smoke had been completely removed from APCs altogether, I was so disappointed. Not that I ever really do anything but ride in the back of APCs, but still...

david2999 wrote:But you replied to a post that was refering to the M1 TUSK and not the Challenger Urban survival kit (im not even sure if such exists). You didn't mention the Challenger or Chieftain so naturally i assumed that you were talking about the M1 Tusk.
No the Challenger and Cheiftains do not have an Urban Survival kit, they have phones on them like i am trying to get clear to you.

If you mix my words up again i will report you.

I found out about the alternative rounds when I accidentally rolled my mouse wheel in a tank once. I've been using them ever since. Heat rounds in the APC are great for smashing up infantry and the heat shells in the tanks are just annihilation anyway.
