I feel really uneasy when I see them. It's worst than watching an horror movie.

With modern day technology and advancements. Including terrorists who can get there hands on it, etc. Soldiers are properly trained in how to get in there chemical suits and how it will save there lives one day. They have been doing those training since WW2 I believe.

However there is very little wars where chemical warfare was used. I believe Iraq used it in the first Iraq war. However I can't really see it being added in PR since even in the first gulf war is more of a precausion than anything. Chemical warfare wasn't used very much.

I think I would just rather the soldiers stay the way they are, just like they are in real-life. It would be interesting to have the option open however incase a new tool like a motor strike comes into the game that launched chemical artillery strikes. That is if a nation in real-life ever uses it. Than gas masks would be a good addition. However without any weapon like that. You would just have a bunch of fools running around in gas masks fighting insurgents or the Chinese.

Which if any soldier who has trained with the gas masks and chemical suits will tell you that having them on makes it a lot harder in a battlefield. Specificly with 100+ pounds of gear on you.

Hahahah, how Darth Vader like or those German ones? The Russian one looks like some kind of mouth based can opener as well :p

Would be nice to have tear gas on some none conventional maps, perhaps even having tear gas a commander asset or something. Only problem is gas only really has a point if only 1 side can protect themselves from it, otherwise it's essentially glorified cover smoke with a bit of a fidgeting for both sides. If one side didn't have them it'd be good though.

Hmm so if ter gas grenade and frag grenade sound and visual fx can be different devs could really add that long deafness and hi pitch sound when frag hits you. ( I always thought the suppression and grenade effects are the same and it cannot be changed.

I know im offtopic, but i had to.

Well, I love gas masks too, and I think this is a descent idea if we get some chemical/biological weapons in,
Despite that fact, those white masks (all of them) you guys are picturing are useless, the guys might as well wear plastic bags over their heads. The white ones are Russian produced, and in some US tests, they didn't even help against tear gas. Not to mention, they're pretty old and masks (filters too for that matter) don't age well.
For example, I have one filter around that will give me chromium toxicity and it gives me a really bad headache if I try to use it for like 30 seconds, and it's only like 5 years old.

If we did implement chemical/biological insurgents, rebels and taliban would not fare well if they were nearby when the device went off (if we keep the realism aspect).

I see your point!

I do in fact see the logic with the grey GP-5s... The filters are aged. However, i own plenty of these filters, they last about 12 hours and then expire. As long as they aren't cracked open yet, they're fine.

The five year old filter is WAY over due. That thing is expired

And yes, i do replace my GP-5 filters IRL. It works great, especially for its 15$ price

What is the most "modern" and effective a insurgent/Taliban/rebel can get their hands on?

I mean, if five years is an overdue filter; how easy is it for civilians/insurgents (etc.) to find more modern filters incase of chemical attack?

i will be happy to answer. The GP-5 is a VERY COMMON gas mask. it has a universal filter that is used on almost all gas masks. Now filters are basically clean until opened, a filter packaged in 1975 will be able to protect at the maximum against tear gas...

The universal filter:

This is getting interesting, it seems that you know your stuff, Sgt. Ostrander.
How effective are modern gas masks (alone) compared to full modern NBC suits? (specifically against various historic WWI gases)

This idea would be great in game, but kits such as the officer have no space left in their equipment slots.
The "9" key is used for thermite grenades, maybe it can be switched out for chemical-specific maps?

I am glad you have asked. A gas mask is intended to be used in chemical environments. Such as Tear gas. An NBC suit is built for added protection. The suits are built for specific squads, and certain situations. No average soldier would be able to be in combat with an NBC suit. The gas mask is built for light weight and reliable protection. :)

So for your suggestion, you need to decide what bits of kits to remove from each class to free up a weapon slot to allow gas masks to be used.

Now that you've reached 25 posts, maybe you should post in the suggestion area?
