PRMM 0.31 UPDATE
Ugh... not good news..... with the introduction of BF2 1.3 and Co-Op mode, the BF2 1.3 server does NOT support mixing game modes in a single map list.
As y'all know with PRMM 0.3 we introduced an objective game mode and the xtract game mode (and btw we spent a good chunk of time debugging the 1.2x server to make game mode switching actually work).
We also have a "roadmap" that has some significant plans for evolving these game modes as well as developing new ones. We have spent a good chunk of time learning about and devising solutions to the usability and game play problems with the new game modes.... we have been cooking up ways to make them work better for the player base.
With this discovery, we've got to do some work to see if we really are hooped, or if we can figure out a way to work around this.
While you can run a server dedicated to xtract or objective or aas... that's not ideal at all because any alternative game mode (sobj or xtract) is not going to have as much content as the mainstream game modes (aas or conquest).
In any case, this means we need more time to work on the 0.31 patch. Worst case.... uh....... we'll release and give y'all instructions on running servers in dedicated game modes if you want that expereince.
We had only just begin to learn about what it takes to make alternative game modes a compelling proposition. But the reality is that we would struggle to develop enough content in each mode to make it compelling to have to run servers dedicated to each game mode. So that's a really unfortunate situation we want to avoid if we can.
I myself am uh... rather bummed out by this .. need to do a lil digging, but must sleep now.

Bloody hell, that sounds bad.
What can we do, running server with the 1.3 Patch with maps only with one Gamemode, like AAS? Then we patch our server and make a AAS mapelist again.
Better we loose some game modes (for a short time) before we loose a lot of members now and in future while server and client only run with 1.22 versions.

Is there a swear filter on this forum? I need to swear at EA!
Oh darn it!
I've changed maplist to conquest only - that's no problem for the time being. But what about the other minor incompatabilities, i.e ctd's using comm rose & map? Can that be a quick fix? I know your busy n all, just wondered...

EA saw a clear and present danger and sent out their wet work guys to destabilise the upcoming power that is BF2:R
It might be time for some urban terrorism in reply.

you people are a bit paranoic, arent you?
first off, the patches are made by dice, which are owned by ea yes, but still i think making this decision was theirs, not eas.
secondly, i doubt they made it to harm bf2
r, it´s not even the mod with the biggest community so i also doubt that they think pr is a danger to them

Personally, this doesn't bother me too much. As others have said, AAS is the 'main' mode anyway, Xtract and Single Objective are just cool little extras at the moment.
The reason I play this mod are threefold: Firstly, the much improved weapon accuracy, secondly (leading on to) the added realism - bleeding if hit, lower health / sprint / jump ability and thirdly (leading on again) the improved teamwork all this means. You can't run round like a lunatic here, or you die very quickly.
Another good thing about this mod is the community. It seems (unlike the vBF2 community) everyone is more mature and friendly.
I don't think this will be as big a problem as it seems. People will stick around and continue playing and supporting this mod, simply because it's the best there is.

I like that about this mod too.
For the first time ever, I have had public servers full of randoms who are communicating and keeping the squad leader alive an dplaying the way BF2 should have been played. This happens every game mostly, too.

I cannot condone that comment, but it sure as hell made me chuckleCopy_of_Blah wrote:If they don't do at least one extremely uncool thing in each patch then they haven't done their job. At least I think that's how they measure themselves.
