Make radio transmissions more realistic?

Yeah as in getting rid of most of them. I'd say take out nearly all radio chatter. Leave only the sound effects that are for shouted warnings within ear shot. Like when someone is close to you and they say "Hey thanks". How it sounds like they soldier is saying it rather than over a radio. Make that standard for nearly all that blabbering chatter.

lol no dude, they are TOO loud and occur to frequently by spammers. There needs to be a YELL at squad level, and a radio connection at the squad leader and commander level.

Sometimes I can't hear gunfire or anything because I constantly hear ENEMY APC SPOTTED! ENEMY INFANTRY SPOTTED! I NEED A MEDIC@!@*!!@ OR AHA MAT MOJOON EYEH YALLHL! ONOH, ONOH ONOH!!

RAdio chatter can be a blessing and an evil. Its good for signalling medics and ammo, but annoying with the 'Hey thanks!'. I think you should only be allowed to say something every 30 seconds or something like that.

Once again, the devs should adopt AA's system. THAT is a blessing.

maybe different radio frequences so you can limit to you squad then have the "Hey Thanks" a ear shot sound.

What about the ability with a keystroke or something to turn one's radio OFF?

Radio chatter can be sometimes very annoying, but you obviously dont realise how useful it is within a squad....
Why is everyone so adamant to make BF2 another AA. If you are that awwstruck by AA why dont u just play that? Removing radio chatter is going to mess up the game big time... Sorry to be harsh but this is ridiculous... You need constant communication in and amongst squads... How are u going to give orders when under heat? Type it??? lol sorry dude but u gotta think of all sides before u request something this silly... Again im not flaming, just think its not a wise suggestion

-.-

No one is saying to remove the chatter. The spamming of the radio needs to be curbed, dramatically. And AA is a good game, but limited. AA's qualities implemented into PR would only ENRICH PR drastically.

Well, I say remove all the radio chatter and let the spammers get a mic..

When an enemy is spotted we dont need to hear it and written in main, just need to get it marked on the minimap and if the spotter wanna say something let him/her use the mic.

That will enchanse the teamplay and kick the vanilla radio spammers out of pr.

I agree. I can't hear what teammates on Team Speak are saying half the time because the radio chatter is so bloody loud. I think seriously decreasing the volume of radio transmissions that don't affect the individual player (can this even be done?) would help tremendously.

just make anybody not in a squad unable to send any messages whether they be typed or radio chatter, then only allow radio chatter within a squad but allow text messages across the whole team.

I was suggesting this on EA forums before i was converted to PRMM, even though it's not such a problem as vanilla - it's still a problem & in worst case scenario an early warning to the enemey of your approach!

It would be nice to remove the shout "enemy spotted".

The point isn't only is it anoying to hear (it is!). Moreso that once you come into contact with the enemy your going to wisper contact made over the com not shout it loud so that you give your position away while letting your team know where the enemy is.

Side note: How about removing the "spotted" 'dot' that follows the target around on the minimap. Hell, what about removing the minimap and leaving only the fullsize map?

Is there a system out of prototype that uses a hud similar to this? I use the minimap all the time, but I wouldn't miss it if it were sacrificed to realism.

Oh please! We know its useful but all the blabber? C'mon. If the mod changed this to only shouted comms, a squad would have to stay closer together to hear. Besides, the game uses VOIP which allows for comms all the way to kingdom come...this is simply to get rid of all the redundant radio chatter (enemy unit/armor spotted ad infinitum till blood squirts out of your ears). Gimme a break.

We don't even have radio chatter at the moment. Just people yelling "GET AMMO HERE!" or "ENEMY BOAT SPOTTED!"

I believe (but have no concrete knowledge) a couple of things about goals of PR in the relatively (relatively being a relative term) near future:

Quiting/minimizing radio chatter even more,

Making it so everytime you do something that you're team mates hear, but you don't, well you should hear it. (get ammo here! , frag out, etc)

Making the q menu sound only in firstperson, only shouting, not in radio, or in both, if some distance system can be devised.

adding more radio options
