Re: PR Server Idea
This will be my main server if mumble is required and the server is passworded. I will go on no other unless this one is empty. After mumble night i went on the normal servers and there were many occurances where mumble was needed to talk to smurfs.

Mine too...
Now we all know.
Pasworded servers that only allow mumble is wanted and possible to fill!

Well, no passwords, but whitelisting instead. Much easier to makes sure everyone that's on is wanted, as well as no need to continually distribute the password, etc... etc...
In essence, same results, but no head ache
Looking very much forward to this, I must say.

We want a mumble server! We want a mumble server!
Or we can change the baseball song,
Take me out to the Mumble-server, take me out to the fun... on second thought that sounds rather dumb.
---------------------------
To be serious this will become my main server, instead of whoring out to TG/UKWF/10th all the time. Will I ever support the server with my money? Doubtful... well, maybe. It depends. I don't want to pay monthly like TG asks to save spots... and even if I did have a spot and was paying I'd always wonder why I was paying for a server that didn't always provide a positive experience. Not that the server is bad, just some of the people lately... well on any server really.

Re: PR Server Idea
Good point, but Im hoping that the BF2 1.5 patch will stop the server crashing from outside the game, and the prevention of GUID spoofing, will help make the RT white list work. They're more active at the moment, as they know some of their "fun" will be put to a stop soon.TheLean wrote:Hackers have crashed alot of servers the recent weeks. If this goes online it would be their prized grail to achieve its downfall. How can we protect ourselves against that?
I find the idea extremely interesting. But I would have to see the server being full a few nights before i start shelling out money.
Interested. Europe.
The server is initially being donated by Rescue Rangers clan : http://www.rr-clan.com/ (Im sure their site will be back up in the next few hours
Without their help, it would have been MUCH harder to get this idea off the ground, and they're a great bunch of guys, so if you're looking for a teamwork based clan then check them out.
I can understand that people would be unwilling to donate to a project that is just starting out. The plan is to eventually have a EU and a NA server, so the whole thing will end up costing around $1600 per year. Im hoping that 100's of people will join the community, and then even if everyone only gave a very small amount, it will be possible to keep it running.

Re: PR Server Idea
Cheers Kruder.
This thread is a bit redundant now, as the server is in the process of being set up, and will be started very soon.
Ive not created a new thread to "launch" the server, as the website isnt 100% complete yet, but in the mean time the forum is up, where the members are deciding map rotations, server rules etc :

Sign up, and give your suggestions
PS: Im still hoping we can have a US based server donated rto start up there too. If anyone can help with this then send me a PM.

No its free, but the idea will only work if people make some voluntary contributions. Im hoping that on average people will donate around £5 per year, which isn't exactly a lot of money.

In not sure that PR will shut down the mumble server. If every game server has a separate mumble address that they host themselves, then actually it might help Reality Teamwork a little bit, but overall it would be the death of Mumble in PR. eg. people wont want to set up dozens of Mumble addresses, and then have to switch every time they log in to a new game server.

Re: PR Server Idea
We have the game server up at the moment, but its not ready to start playing on yet, as a few tests need to be done.
I was wondering if some players in North America, could log it and let me know what kind of ping they get. This is purely a ping test - its not ready to play on yet.
Its in the server list :
"Reality Teamwork Mumble Test"
Server password :
"test 9"
It would be good if you could let me know your average ping, plus your location, eg : east/west coast US, mid US, or Canada.
Thanks

Re: PR Server Idea
I wasn't able to find the server in the list. I tried typing in the server name and manually searching through all the servers, but to no avail. Perhaps you could provide an IP?

Re: PR Server Idea
So I've just hopped on, and I average around ~155-160 ping. I am also from the Midwestern United States.
I was slightly surprised that my ping was that low. Unfortunately, it probably would have been greater with more players online.
