I found myself ina squad with the SL asking very politely someone to leave to make space for his clan mate I volunteer saying I would like to look at the CO role and assuming this SL would at least assist.
So i eventually find the command trailer.
What is logistics...oh its for build orders but it takes quite a while to recharge so it's frequently impossible to grant build orders! So with a CO build orders take longer than without a CO ... great!
I announce in text that area attack is available, someone says drop it on the grey flag, but after checking the manual it seems I must have a request with a laser GLTD to do an area attack.
Finally an SL lazes a target ... but three friendlies there who of course will not move away after text and VOIP requests.
So as usual the lack of a WIKI for a noob is again causing me problems!
Next round frustation watching three squads trying to attack the same objective with no support from each other most of the team for some reason stop playing, I don't think it was anything to do with I don't spam on VOIP V and i let all build requests ASAP.
So overall frustating and a bit pointless, but the CO rolestill appeals to me as I prefer that kind of gameplay.
I will try again soon but it is a bit of a letdown especially after VBF commander where you are alot more useful spotting for recce groups and easy arty!

Strange, I never had a problem with the logistics.PLODDITHANLEY wrote: What is logistics...oh its for build orders but it takes quite a while to recharge so it's frequently impossible to grant build orders! So with a CO build orders take longer than without a CO ... great!
Have a read through the strategy part of the forum. You will find a quite informative subsection for commanders.PLODDITHANLEY wrote: So as usual the lack of a WIKI for a noob is again causing me problems!
You see, it is exactly the thing You have mentioned that is the most difficult task of the commander: reorganize and mobilize Your team if it is necessary to do so, and do the best with all the things You have.PLODDITHANLEY wrote: Next round frustation watching three squads trying to attack the same objective with no support from each other most of the team for some reason stop playing, I don't think it was anything to do with I don't spam on VOIP V and i let all build requests ASAP.

Also, there is a development that the coordination between the squads gets much stronger with Mumble and Teamspeak, reducing the commanders influence over the battle even further. However, it is still my belief that a team will do better with a commander than without, if he knows what he is doing.
As with the SL position, You will eventually grow into the CO-chair. The dynamics are different than in BF2, but it does not mean that it is not challenging. En contraire.

Gibbon, My first commanding but it seemed top me that the logistics has to 'charge up' before i could authorize build orders or am i wrong?

Commanders are great to have, but tbh in the build order Dept, its a hindrance cuz it takes ages to charge.

thanks i wasn't sure if i was doing something wrong.
So yes as commander not only does CO have to allow build orders it also takes a while for logistics to recharge and if there is no CO there is no recharge time atall.
I have only ever played on Public servers and a big problem is that I don't think I have ever seen two squads co ordinated on a Pub server.
Oh well back to Medic class for me, I've tried commander and it seems a little pointless, even worse than no commander, and obviously if I can't practise a bit on Public servers my commanding will never be up to clan match ot tournament levels.
