"make new things please" is not a new or particularly inventive suggestion, especially when you are so vauge about what you are actually suggesting. As has been pointed out the MEC have had a shedload of work put into them and are very different from back in the 'nilla days.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.
