Do we have our very own Leeroy Jenkins?

Post by [RGG]Firefokker »

Here's something I wondered about the other day while waiting for an enemy counterattack on Muttrah...

I'm no World of Warcraft player, but even I know about Leeroy Jenkins. (If you haven't check this out and laugh your backside off...)

YouTube - leroy jenkins

The guy has made quite an impression in the online community simply by being a tosspot, so I was wondering if this sort of high-profile brainlessness has been seen or even recored in PR over the years at all. If so it would be quite hilarious to watch so post your vids here please.

I am not in any way trying to promote the sort of numb-nuttedness displayed by Mr Jenkins, and thus degrade the standard of our noble game, but one has to admit sometimes the thought of just letting yourself go is very appealing....

Imagine you've been slapped down by the other team at every turn for the past two hours, are frustrated as hell, the klaxons have come on so you know its over... and you and your team decide to spent the last 20 seconds blindly charging the enemy positons and yelling 'Leeeroy Jenkins' all the way....With Mumble the effect would be quite something to see I bet, if only for the various versions of 'WHAT THE F***?' coming in from all directions.

What do you recon?

(Moderators, please excuse me if this is posted under the wrong topic...)

The leeroy jenkins incident was staged, it is not as spontaneous as it seems.

Back in the days of 0.4, 0.5 and 0.6 the old hardcore tourney teams regulars used to go knife-only for the occasional map.

I'm talking Rank, Squidy, Tbone, Rhino, Sawyer, Wormeaten, Bl1nd, me, Popa, N1ghtwolf, Mongol, were some of the biggest knife fighting psychos in PR, now and again if you happen to see a lot of knife kills, perhaps its happening all over again.

Even when it isn't knife only rounds, the klaxon is knives only alarm.

The only thing I can think of from PR that made me laugh like that leeroy jenkins vid is the one with the huge MEC grenade launcher. Will someone link that vid please?

Fairly recently I was on a round of Asad Kahl. We were the MEC, and fighting a pretty hard battle for the houses near the waterfall and the hill with the rope bridge, near the eastern side of the town.

My squad had been taken out, I was all alone, some Brits in the houses below us were firing steady supressive fire at my position. It was tough, dirt was being kicked up all around me and I was running low on ammo for my G3 as we'd fought a long trawl up to the waterfall.

I had had, as they say, enough.

Pulled my sidearm, and charged the nearest house. A brit rifleman came out from under an arch, a tripple-tap to the chest and he went down. He called medic, and a squadmate of his appeared at the end of the arch - a grenade got chucked, I took cover and waited it out... shrapnel hit me wounding me slightly but I got shakily to my feet and stepped out towards the second guy, hitting him with a single round. He dived around the corner and two of his buddies came out- a SL and the squad's medic; they dived into the building also.

I reloaded, yelled for help - and one of my squadmates arrived just in time to warn me of a guy looking through the window. Turning, he took three pistol rounds to the head; the squad leader then ran out... and was also dropped.

Entering the building, I found the last guy, charged at him, and dropped him with the pistol just as he put an M855 into my chest, dropping me.

Not quite Jenkins-style idiocy, but a suicidal charge nonetheless! Wish I could have been bothered to find it on T&T's battlerecorder lol, it was a right buzz :D

Expect that to happen a bit sooner with 0.86.

Good story for sure. Did you post a full AAR of that round?

I've had plenty of Leroys...you set up a really nice ambush, everyone is waiting, guns at the ready, until the enemy enters the killing zone...and then some guy stands up and starts spraying them while they're still too far away, and a tank puts a HEAT shell through the window.
