BFeditor forum attacked...

Post by MasterTom »

Some people have attacked the forums at:
http://bfeditor.org/forum/index.php

I qoute:
Apparently someone doesn't want to see mods being developed. We're currently under a malicious attack and cannot estimate how long the boards will be down. We may take advantage of the downtime to move hosts. Expect the boards to be back-up in the next 3-7 days.
My own mod website http://www.infantrymod.com has been attacked too... (it seems like they emptied/destroyed the Database on my site... I sure hope that isnt the case at bfeditor.org forum.

Greetz,

Tom.

Who would bother attacking BFeditor, Infantry Mod, and possibly even TBF2?

Not to point fingers, I don't ever think they'd stoop this low - EA. They suck that bad. :p

EDIT: TBF2 is back up.

TBF2 is still up. Must be a problem on your end. Or you tried to connect while they did some "maintenance" to the site.

Why maintenance and during an attack? (not aggressive question - just curious)

I have no idea if they did anything to the TBF2 site, meaning the staff at TBF2, but when I have trouble connecting to a site I believe that it could be because I try to connect while they are "servicing" their server.... Or it could quite simply be too many people try to connect at once.

In short, I'm just guessing!

loads of exploits were released in the public domain to hit this type of forum software. the only real answer for now is to use fully updated Vbulletin software. I've seen a few sites going down and losing their databases due to the "pm filled" exploit

If you run phpbb, it's very important to keep it fully updated. If you do, it's secure. If not, there will most likely be one or two ways to get in.
