Base "rape." Should it be allowed?

I'm not a baseraper, but I don't have a problem with it being allowed.

If the mapper didn't want the opfor to get close too close to the base, then he would add a dome of death around it. Yes its frustrating if you get killed at base, but hey - war is hell

Also for the enemy to get there without being noticed, they will have to have gone on a long route which takes them along time, and then once discovered, they're not going to last long.

Its basically a bad tactic, as they would have been far more use on the front line, so I say let them do it.

I dont really like base-raping, the only time i do it is when im flying the jets on kashan and no one seems to want to call in targets.

My final words and conclusion ARE:

Only fire at an enemy base if the enemy shot at you. And that includes ONLY the man that shot you. Other words, if a sniper is shooting from their base, kill him, but don't kill his observer, then it would be baserape.



Oh and CyrusPI reminded me of something... on INSURGENCY game modes, base rapes should be allowed. Period.

in PR u cant always wait 4 the enemy shoot at u first then u return fire cuz u wont be alive in most cases . if u kill a man in their base that means u r baseraping nomatter what . i know a server that dont allow baserape but they allow troops inside shoot at ppl stand out side wtf ? it shouldbe allowed just like in RL . that is why they put MGs at the gate for ....... to defend base .

there simply arent enough people per server to defend a main AND get flags AND defend those flags they took, so i dont like it

Lets look at the numbers shall we.

Map is Kashen 64. Start of round. 1 Tank takes a very long route around the edge of the map so as to get the the OP4 main. He/she/they move to a good spot with good over watch on the op4 main and take out the TOWs emplacements 1st. Then proceed to destroy every truck/jeep/helo/jet that is sitting idle. Lets just say they get 1 truck, 1 hummer, 1 tank and 2 jets. That's about 57 tickets not including any troops they got. Then they get killed. The cost of the tank they took to base rape with was 10 tickets plus the crew of 2. Plus they have denied the OP4 team for 20 minutes of the jets and a tank. All for the cost of one tank. And that is if they are unlucky. 1 Tank can hold the whole OP4 main to ransom. And in turn a whole team to ransom. Not really fare at all in my book.

And don't get me started if a attack HELO decided to go base raping.

There is just no enough players available to guard on maps like that.


But it could be so easily fixed if the mappers wished to. You could have 2 versions of a map. 1 With no "DoD" and 1 with.

But on INS maps. I Feel that it's not a an issue. In fact. A Good USMC team can use it to there advantage. Sit back and let them come. Keep killing them until all 3 cashes are lit. Then Strike out.

If the server rules say don't do it, don't do it. If they don't say that, why the hell not? You're playing to win, after all, so do everything you can within the confines of the game & server rules to win.

I recon its fine to attack the enemy main as long as they are able to defend it. If they are getting killed on spawn then its turned into a shooting range, meaning the team getting spawn raped are no longer able to play.

After all, disabling them at their main is a rather good tatic, the problem lies with it being a too good tatic? Or is it just the opposing team allowing them to do it in the first place?

And you also have to look at what baserape is. I see it as the continuous attack of a main base, yet I see some people shouting baserape after one person getts killed by a sniper or rpg, even when its the only attack on their main.

A dome of death sounds like the perfect option to baserape until it becomes available for capture.
And if it’s being attacked from the outside, then just fight your way out of it.
If a tank is out there, then it will eventually get destroyed and guess what!? 15 minutes for them with -1 tank and precious time wasted while the other tanks are out killing off the inf. + the time he was killing around the base. Waste of asset, time, and teamwork.

On AAS maps however, theres just not enough manpower to guard the mainbase, and imho AAS is not balanced and designed for a team to lose all their equipment upon spawn in main.

War is hell.... bwaaa ha ha ha !!! I think aircraft strafing a base is ok... that's why they have defensive AA guns and stinger emplacements. Also the runway can be bombed , leaving craters to stop enemy aircraft using it.

AA is fantastic at defending the Air fields and driving off or even destroying enemy air craft, though it only fallacy is that it requires people who are willing to sit there manning. People can no longer run to it in the first warning of a air raid and be ready to fire with in a moment notice it now takes some time to start and after that it is often to late. Making the who peropus of the air defence system completely useless

People have to realise that the Air defence system i flawed in that regard, team's simply don't have the resources to leave key personal at base defending it from air attack,

I see base rape, and even flag rushin in some cases, to be 'pre-empting' the round.
I finishes the round before it has even started/developed, so imo, its a bad thing.

With insurgents/Tall.b, its questionable tho.

Agreed, but the fact is that MOST tank crews will stay there beyond 30 seconds and ground pound everything that moves before retreating. And I'll be honest with yah, even I've done it. Its adictive when you feel that power sensation.
But again, the posiblity of caching ALL the armor at the main base to be taken out by only one tank is too high.
So, as i said earlier, I belive its a waste of time and tactic. I mean, you have to travel 5 miles away from the battle which is about 4 minutes to get there, finda good spot, and hopefully pray that you have not been detected and start pounding. Waste of time, and bottom line, it kills teamwork which this mod is ALL about.

If I have to become a commander to stop it, then i'll do so.

I just wonder what happen to all the good pilots, tankers, and snipers who all they wanted was a good challenge?... I kinda miss those days

I think its absolutely fine on insurgency mode.
Insurgents need to be able to do baserape because the Coalition gets APCS, Humvees, Attack Choppers. Most of the time its impossible for the Insurgents to kill apcs if they are very far off and SA-7 on Karbala has its quirks and almost no one goes for it because you only get the tube,thats why people baserape the apache. To kill APCS far away is incredibly hard, You get around 4 RPGs (3 caches and the insurgent base) and if your not skilled enough its hard to account for the rocket's drop. People who usually complain about baserape on insurgency mode are the kinds of people that will desperately try to get to the US or British team and shun the insurgent side, so they don't know how hard it can be for the Insurgents to kill APCS (Especially if APCs or other armor are camping the caches)

In my opinion I think bases should be left alone because it really can ruin a game. Like in Op Archer usually servers with relaxed base rape rules the Taliban will put techs near the U.S. Base and just sit there waiting for choppers to take off and shoot them down.

However it also does promote better coordination and teamwork.
