Re: getting new pc need help
Bit more information please.
Do you just want us to tell you what we run PR smoothly on or just list some uber high end system that's not really needed for PR?
Whats your current specs? Your profile just says Windows XP.
What's your screen resolution?
To run PR fairly smoothly with some headroom for high settings I advise at least 2gb of ram (cheap either way), a GeForce 8600GT/ATI HD3650 or better graphics card (also inexpensive) and at least a Core 2 Duo processor (BF2 engine doesn't use more then one core but a C2D is still more efficient). That's a general estimate though, varies on settings and resolution.
You'd probably be able to run it smoothly on a lot worse, considering BF2 came out in 2005, these are the vanilla minimum specs:
"Windows XP, 1.7 GHz AMD Athlon XP, Sempron, Intel Pentium 4 or Celeron D CPU, 512 MB RAM, 2.3 GB hard disk space, sound card, DirectX compatible 128 MB graphics card, Radeon 8500 or GeForce FX 5700"
I don't know how much more demanding PR is exactly (the devs might be able to roughly estimate), but my rough recommended specs for PR are a fair bit higher then the vanilla specs - despite not being considered high or even mid end today.
A faster hard drive should theoretically cut down on map load times too but it's not as important as CPU/GPU/RAM.
If you want to max the sound settings get an XFI sound card.

Re: getting new pc need help
The 9500GT is a revised 8600GT (64 'stream processors'), so either one of them is a good starting point to run mostly-high settings on resolutions larger then 1280x1024. Provided you've got at least 2gb of ram and a C2D of course.
You can max out all the video settings smoothly at 1680x1050 on a 512mb 8800GT/9800GT (112 SPs), seems to run just fine on the 9600GT as well (96 SPs).
As Original Warrior pointed out above this range of video card is very affordable, plus they can handle the latest games (just not at high settings & resolutions at the same time).
A bleeding edge system is complete overkill just for playing PR, some users here went and bought i7 systems to run PR faster (far beyond frame rates you'll even sense). Considering the Core 2 Duo's second core isn't being used by the BF2 engine the Core i7's 7 spare threads aren't going to make any difference either.
I'm considering running it in 3d in future which halves the 2d frame rate, plus vsync on 120hz. So that will make it more demanding but most mid-high end graphics cards today probably have headroom for that too.

Nvidia 9800GT is a good card or if you got a budget a Nvidia 8800GT can play it on medium settings and is still pretty good.
